I find it wrong that nissan promote the fantastic 0-60 times which are only so good because of the use of launch control but say that if you use the launch control it registers this on the ecu and all gearbox related warranty is void

Why does seemingly every writer feel the need to add a "-san" after a person's name, just because he's Japanese? Will this courtesy extend to other countries as well? Will we in the future read about signore/Herr/monsieur/etc-something or other, instead of "mr"..?

It really annoys me. Maybe I'm getting old. I'm definetely getting off-topic.

Lovely car.

Or on any EDM (European version). The only time this happened (how much fun are Internet rumours) was on a couple of imported cars at the very beginning of the GT-R's life. Nissan realised the launch was a tad too brutal & pegged the rpm's back for all genuine UK cars. Since then & with a few other software revisions, they're back at the same launch revs, however the hardware is a little stronger & thus all's well.

So to quell such sillyness, NO UK GT-R's have ever been stopped from doing launches or warranties voided for doing them. You're also allowed to switch the traction control fully off if you're brave enoughsmile

My MY10 GT-R was breathed on & thus outputting around 630bhp & even with these upgrades, it was more involving to drive than any of my previous motors, including the B7 RS4 & E60 M5. The only car that ever got the better of my GT-R on track was a very well driven 997 GT2RS, anything in the Beetle range sub the GT2RS couldn't get close, although i only ever encountered the non 4.0 GT3's.

I also laugh at those who feel any driver is actually a passenger in the GT-R as it's certainly a handful & with the biase being RWD in most circumstances, it's very easy to get the tail out.

If anyone wants a car so hardcore that it tries to kill you everytime you drive it, then i'd agree the GT-R is NOT the car for you, but given it was designed to be a daily driver that could also compete with pretty much anything on a track & then be driven home in comfort, i'd suggest that the GT-R does exactly what it was designed to do & it does it quicker & better than any car in it's class or many classes above.

I think the line is drawn "where" the systems kick in.

If it's a safety thing when you're over the limit or smack bang on it, then yes it's good to have it there. No point in being dangerous just for he sake of it in a modern car.

If it takes over before you're at the limits and gets there for you then that's no great.

I see Signore and Herr used from time to time. Also the Japanese tend to wish to be addressed in a more formal way, so san may well be the name they expect to be used in press about them. It is unusual for someone to be introduced as Mr or Mrs in the UK, or europe and the US, but not in Japan.

Tis amazing how easy people get 630+ hp out of these things with just remapps yet Nissan set ring records with only 550. How fast must this car be with more power?

+1...used to get the same silly comments about my old R33 GTR... "computer controlled", "no fun" etc etc...all garbage...all GTR's are very fast, very capable and can be very scary if u get it wrong.

The 2012 Nissan DLR, It does all the driving for you. No thanks
I have a 2010 one and you are right.

Walk out of house...

Put on a blind fold...

Walk up to said car and get in...

The car then proceeds to drive me to my destination whilst I masturbate over 911's.
