Do you ever say anything to no-shows or is it not the 'done thing' as far as the boss/dealership policy is concerned?
Always wondered why it acceptable practice to either:a)just not turn up with no phone call
b)turn up late, with no phone call
c)turn up an hour early, without checking that is fine
Pisses me off no end, you wouldn't do any of the above at the Drs. or Dentist.
I don't say anything to no shows or people who rock up late, it's not worth it but it is bloody rude and can really screw you over, a simple "im not coming" phone call isn't hard and nothing worse than waiting for someone who doesn't show and whilst waiting someone walks in and deals with your colleague.
I have only once lost it with a customer, he hung up on me after giving me all the right signals when infront of me, after a bit of chasing I got him on the phone and he subsequently hung up, I rang back and left a rather stern message on his voicemail letting him know exactly how I felt.
Probably the wrong thing to do but it made me feel better.

What about when it happens the other way though?
If so it's usually because of the above.
Half-time here. 5 of 11 confirmed appointments have failed to pitch, we've seen 8 new enquiries and 3 sales - across six of us in a volume dealer.
It has all the signs of being a washout, relatively speaking. A shame when it's the middle weekend that can often make or break the month.
Fingers crossed for a steady influx...

Well nothing so far today, had no appointments on the board anyway.
Only a handover who was an hour late due to losing the service history, V5 and MOT for their 124,000 mile XC90, he found it!
Oh and a gem from the Autotrader, enquiring about a used car, he is deaf and asked for e-mail contact only, my response to the initial enquiry:
Mr. XYZ,
Thank you for your enquiry on our used Grand Scenic, when would you like to come down to discuss the car?
I look forward to hearing from you.
His reply:
Could you make a offer ? What will you do? Part exchange my car?
I don't want travel if you don't make me a good offer.
I am single father with 3 kids so have limit time available.
Where you base?
I don't hold out much hope.

I'm holding a big open day tomorrow, between 2000 and 3000 people expected so it all hands on deck, we've got valeters in doing painting and decorating, admins setting up tea and coffee stalls, event toilets being delivered later this aft, it is very busy.
I'll be back in the office at 6am tomorrow.

Now that sounds a lot more like a fun way to pass a weekend. I'll be back in the office at 6am tomorrow.

really so because the chap is deaf, there is no point asking him to come in for a chat? most deaf people can lip read
Yep, sold plenty of cars to deaf customers over the years, some mostly via e-mail, some by them lip-reading, some by passing notes on paper back and forth. It's rare indeed that people will commit to buying a car without having seen and tried it first, so it's a reasonable expectation that they'll want to do so.
That said, where specific questions are asked, it's better to respond to them specifically rather than ignore them and press on for the appointment without even acknowledging them...

Well no but perhaps a few more emails about requirements and expectations before moving to popping down might have been reasonable. Though he turned out to be a time waster so I guess it's academic.I did two today, both at opposite ends of the spectrum - a 997 Turbo and a Mini Cooper Diesel auto. My gaffer did a Bentley GT Coupe. That's four for the week for me, the other two being an Audi RS4 and a Maserati Quattroporte. I'm targeted on 10 per month, so well pleased to be 6 up mid month
