The 599GTB hasn't lasted long, it only came out 5 years ago. The 550/575M lasted a decade and the Testarossa 12 years before that. Wonder why Ferrari are in such a hurry to change the flagship V12?
Emissions regs maybe.

Or perhaps they realised that the Aventador was going to be a stunner and they needed to do something about it.

Ok, but never mind Ferrari's words. How would you define a GT car? Surely if it was a sports/super car it would perhaps just have two seats (or not) and be slightly more striking? Plus Ferrari/Fiat have the funding/engineers and design crew to make something really inspirational.
The 599 does have only 2 seats. So will the new F620 (if that is indeed its name). As for the looks of the 599, photos do not do it justice. It's a car that looks better and better with time, viewed from many angles. The buttresses and the shape of the rear window are fascinating, as is the tiny size of the roof panel, and the prongs which stick out below the headlamps. It's not a photogenic car ie doesn't look anything like as good in photos as in reality. I would imagine this could be true of the new car as well.

and they know that the world has about a 2-second attention span these days. Is it really a whole new model though or just 599 with a better engine?
