christ on a bike, i didn't realise these were down to £6k.
what are they like?
Indeed, well the Meganes with the LSD's (like this one) are meant to be the best handling hot hatch, EVO really rate them. Build quality was improved in the later cars like this one. what are they like?
It is still French and plastic but hey a remap combined with a set of Michelin PS3's you have yourself an epic All weather b-road blaster.

I think they have remained fairly stable over the last year or so. Maybe the top money cars have dropped a bit?
On the whole, an m5 is just an expensive car to run! You can't really enjoy them as a smoker, they need to be in good health or they are just irritating. In my opinion anyway.
Nothing costs a lot, but nothing's cheap and there is lots of it to be done!

A borked or even slightly borked M5 is just a pain. They need to be right or they drive like st.

I beg to differ.
Build quality can be best described as poor.
They are great to drive when they are 'correct' but sadly very few are these days.
A Focus ST or a Golf GTI is a better car 95% of the time.

Oki doke, cheers for that olly.
Erm I think on the hole they've dropped a little (may just be me).
That blue pre facelift with the face lift lights etc for 7 bags is a lovely example for the money.
Anyone know what sor of mileage was on GP's ?
Think gps was about 90k, know he put a few miles on it.Erm I think on the hole they've dropped a little (may just be me).

Buy the one in Scotland, now!
Would be wary of buying a Jockanese car though. Rust is an issue on cars kept in damp climes.

I'd like to drive one.... I like the idea of it and the price is relatively small for the smiles. ST I'm not really a fan of but again I've never driven one. I beg to differ.

Plus the Recaros in the Maganes are brilliant for my back.

Sorry as much as I like the new B5 BiTurbo, an e31 B12 5.7 especially in that colour is basically one of the
best cars i've ever seen IMO of course..

The RS Megane is a great car in short bursts.
I ran a 225 Trophy and an R26 230 as demos.
Couldn't wait to get back in an RS Clio.
The Clio 197 with the Recaro seats is a much better car.

Aren't the RenaultSports exempt from the 'It's French' quality issues - though given the level of "bork!" on every other page perhaps it's a pan European thing?
Possibly, the early normal 225's are meant to be worse than a Friday afternoon built Tuscan The F1 R26's etc are meant to be pretty decent. Spent abit of time in an R26 out in LeMans last year and I found that fine with interior quality etc keeping in mind it French etc. pull very well indeed even when 7 up .... Officer.

O right, maybe back to thinking about 182 Trophy's. Still like the idear of turbo Renault
Yes the Recaros in the ST arn't the kind I prefer.

if the st is better then given i used to run a focus rs mk1, i think i'd probably be more at home with the ford than the renault.I beg to differ.

After much faffing and missing ///M cars, I appear to have bought this:
Plate isn't staying as the previous owner wants to keep it, I'm fully expecting this to ruin me as it's rather high on the mileage side, however low miles doesn't appear to have equalled bork free in my experience so wish me luck.
In case any of the beards are interested it's a Jan 2001 and just ticked over 160,000 miles on the clock on the way back from picking it up. It isn't perfect but overall so far seems very good. Gulp.
I expect I will have a lot of questions for those with Funf experience when I'm back from holiday and have time to do some more miles in it.
