Were there problems with those wheels then? I'll listen out for tappy noises on cold start but if it's only a nuisance then I dont really mind.
Yes there were issues with them, the lacquer peels really really badly. They all do it eventually.

The tapping is a bit more hit and miss, given the age of the cars at that price they will have the cylinder head that is prone to it. If its an AUC you may get them to change the HVAs under warranty but you will have to fight them for it and even then it wont fix it. It basically just sounds tappity when cold if you do lots of short journeys. BMW claim its just a nuisance noise, Ive not known it to cause an issue for anyone but its a metal clicking noise so read into it what you will

Dont let it stop you buying them, I love mine. I dont consider it in anyway practical though I guess it depends on your definition of practical smile

My 130 used to do that on occasion. I used to turn it off then back on and it'd be fine.

All they did on the manual ZHP U.S.A. cars was stick in the manual Convertible rear Diff - they didn't do it on the Clubsports

Brief update on the M Coop posted yesterday. Received a text from the seller saying that hes had a look at the docs and its a Dutch import and a 2.8. So either hes just reading the docs which are possibly incorrect or someone has put the zorst, mirrors, vents and wheels on of an M + its an RHD import. I have asked again for the VIN which obviously would clear it al up. Will see what I get.

A 2.8 could be an interesting buy. Loads less bork, reasonably economical and fairly unique.

Thanks for the tips. Practicality wise, well it's got a decent sized boot for what it is, but not exactly van-like like my current Octavia vRS.

Agreed but there are plenty more exciting cars for the money, besides an early 98 '28 isn't 100% bork free. A moon mileage sparsely historied '28 isn't the same daring + exciting prospect that a full on M would be, for me at least.

I think you underestimate quite what an undertaking an M power car is!

Can't you do it online and take a print out of the confirmation?

indeed, not stationary as such, just not on the road.

It has brand new MOT/Service etc.
