Roofline instantly reminded me of a current shape Camaro, anyone else? :P
I thought theres a bit of new school muscle design in there too...But I'm not really impressed with this... I thought the race for bigger engines and more power was over by now thanks to EU regs and weight was the new key word?? I'm curious to see what it'll look like, but curious is about it. Ferrari seem to have lost their magic a long time ago IMHO.

Might just be me but Ferrari have released an awful lot of new cars in the past few years, more than ever before.
Not strictly true, Ferrari made a lot of different cars in the fifties and sixties, not just the 250GTO and SWB that people remember. In the fifties Ferrari's range was a mix and match of bodies, chassis and engines so that a production run that made it into double figures was considered a lot. In the sixties most of their cars had a production run for about 2-3 years before being replaced or updated typical production runs were around 300 cars. There relative rarity is one of the reasons old Ferraris are so valuable today.
It was only after Fiat took over that Ferrari product life cycles were extended.
As a slight aside Ferrari made more 360s than their entire production between 1947 and 1970 which is about 20 distinctly different models.

That caption should be more correct if it said
"a new V12 car, the end of an era".
However much I hate to say it, they won't get a place in tomorrows world imho. Everybody needs to downsize and if McLaren/Porsche would make an equally powerful and capable car that does double the MPG and half the service cost of the Ferrari, sales will dwindle.
i honestly dont see how people who can afford a super car would care about the MPG - that is completely missing the point of a super car."a new V12 car, the end of an era".

Also, Ferrari sales are increasing - in most markets, not just China - so even with McLaren as the new kid on the block and the long term rival of Porsche, it seems people are disagreeing with you... the ones with the actual money to spend anyway.
actually saw the car (in light grey metallic) on the camera of a friend who was at the factory monday (under the snow) - stunning! looks amazing, he reckons it will look even better in other color.
Clearly a 458 family member from the front and rear - nothing much left of the 599! Definitely the same team that designed them both.
But much nicer than the FF.

Looks like a 599 with excellent wheels from that picture. I have to say that I really hope it's a looker as bar the FF, Ferraris of late have been awful to look at.
Sir is pulling one's leg, surely? I mean, I'm all for diversity of opinion and whatnot, but........ ZesPak said:

The caption towards the end of the vid there says "a new era of extreme V12 cars dawns".
Seems to me a new era of increasingly irrelevant, overpriced and far-too-powerful-for-anything-other-than-a-deserted-racetrack cars is about to dawn. That doesn't mean they shouldn't make them for the fortunate few, but I just can't get excited about this.

A Porsche 911 is now around 40% or less the price of a new Ferrari 458, and a lot cheaper to run, compare that with the differance 20 years ago, ferrari are doing better than ever, selling relatively more expensive cars than ever
People put for to much stock, in "trends", these trends dont apply to the very rich, they do what they want, and spend what they want, they always have and always will
The only reason a Ferrari V12 will stop being made is if it becomes technologically obsolete, as in a V - whatever or some future engine, eletric etc, becomes superior on every level, noise/power, being the main ones, that people just dont want them (v12's anymore), it won't vanish just because someone wag's there finger and says it uses to much fuel and costs to much to service

Looking at your profile that's a strong statement about the 458 Dave.and a giant penis bonnet car

Give us your thought's on what constitutes a 'looker'.
e type
355 fezza and most of there 50s and 60s stuff
maserati quattroporte
lots of stuff
the 458 looks like an elephants sat on the bonnet and squished everything up its ass to its over sized rear end, and it has zits for rear lights
compare the fugly 458 to this vision of automotive sex on wheels

The 458 looks staggeringly fantastic from side-on. It's when the front or rear come into view where it goes a bit wrong, IMO. I don't like the new Ferrari front end design one bit, especially the FF with the Cadillac egg-crate grille. And the high set lights didn't look good on the F430, 599 or Enzo - they still don't work on the 458 for me. Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
