how accurate are the stats as they seem dissapointing. Lets compare to my zr.
Engine: 1,998cc - zr 1.8
Power (hp): 200@7,000rpm - zr 158@7,000rpm
0-62mph: 7.6 sec - zr 7.4
Top speed: 144mph - zr 131mph
Weight: 1,239kg - zr 1.145
MPG: 31.7mpg - zr 37.6
CO2: 181g/km - 179g/km
I know the brz is slightly heavier and has an extra 13mph top end but the trade off is a slower 0-60 time and a lower mpg figure. Its a larger engine but seems to be less efficient than the 1.8k series which is what 30 years old? CO2 is worse also so its not a lower pollution issue.
I wouldn't be surprised if it accelerates faster than that ( not that it matters too much ) or maybe it needs two gearchanges to 60 like the old E30 325 Sport.Engine: 1,998cc - zr 1.8

I suppose theres only so much you can read into figures. Have to get a job closer to my house i think, commuting makes mpg the most important figure when ideally it would be the least. DanDC5 said:
I really want one of these in a couple of years once there's a few used ones about. As a day to day/fun car this seems spot on. Kind of a rear wheel drive version of what I have now.
Yeah, spot on. Though i think it would be a better car with a K20 lump in it, hehe.There is surely going to be a turbo'd version later down the line. I prefer the scooby one, as the toyota has a horrible red on the gear stick and wheel from what ive seen, looks horrible.

The centre of gravity is a biggie, one of the less indecipherable of the graphs relating to the fact the BRZ's 460mm is lower than a Mazda MX-5's
What?!?460mm? as in 46cm? as in nearly half a meter? I'd be surprised if the MX5's COG was even 46cm above the floor-pan.
Still, along with the Toyota version, this is one of the most interesting cars on the market at any price to my mind. An absolute bargain at the prices being touted.
The looks of both the BRZ and GT86 have really grown on me, and I'm as keen as ever on the rest of the package after reading the reviews.
Not sure which I like more though - the Subaru looks nicer, but the Toyota may be cheaper, and it has the nicer model name/ badge detailing. I especially like the GT86 logo instead of the wing vent on the BRZ (trivial stuff granted);
