IS300H F Sport
The Mrs' brother can get me a brilliant deal through his toyota friends/family type scheme, the CVT in his Lexus NX doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would so this would be the same, all the reviews seem good (except the box, but i've already said it's not that bad) I REALLY like the looks, the interior is a nice place to be... And I'm freaking out about the future of diesels....
A blue one please.
If only they made an estate... (I'm not fond of SUVs, even the well thought out NX).
Not a car, but I want one badly:
Love the way they look/seem to hug the ground (although maybe that's due to blown airbags ). Been watching a lot of videos on youtube recently of guys buying these and attempting to restore/fix them up. Seems to be relatively cheap to buy and most seemed to have been converted to campers in the 70/80s and now people are overhauling them again. Unfortunately there aren't many full-length restoration videos up, but many talk about replacing the engine and gearbox with something more modern and gutting the insides to make a bespoke interior.

More a (very hypothetical) project.
How to make a F81 M3 Touring.
Do you
a) Buy a 316i Touring and then pour all the M3 bits in and fit flared arches. But you end up with a 316i V5 of course
Similar to this E91 M3 conversion that is brilliant
from: http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/02/the-best-bmw-t...
or
b) Buy a rear ended M3 saloon, and then graft on the roof section, rear doors, tailgate and bumper to the saloon floorplan. And you keep the M3 logbook.
In my head the latter is simpler and therefore easier!

I won't be happy until I get one of these.
Unfortunately nigh on 18k miles a year kills the dream right now.

Now the Alfa Romeo QV is out 159 3.2 JTS Q4's are getting realistically priced and holding steady around the £5,000-£7,000 mark.
Classic investment, great daily drive, Busso V6 sound track, four wheel drive traction and the best looking Alfa since the 155
I would get a wagon for the extra practicality as well.

I don't think the 159 ever had the Busso, AFAIK it's a GM sourced engine.Classic investment, great daily drive, Busso V6 sound track, four wheel drive traction and the best looking Alfa since the 155

Bugger I'll have to lust after a 147 GTA (Prodrive) instead then.
156 GTA-SW then? Or just suck it up and get that GM lump, i think autodelta does a 3.7 supercharger conversion for it, surely that should ease some of the pain of not having a busso?
I'm not a fan of the 156 GTA. Bit of a tarts handbag.

I get the performance and all, but I just don't get the appearance. I couldn't stand to look at that for long or even be seen in it..exitwound said:

I've been thinking about a 420R, but this seems to have pretty much the spec I would choose if buying new.

After viewing the pics from my recent trip to the ring I find myself dreaming of a stripped out and track prepped E46 M3.
The E46 M3 is on my cars to own list and I could sell the Evo and get one for track use and a MK5 Golf GTi (also on the cars to own list) for daily duties. Hmmm
Classifieds must you now search.

Alfa developed it with direct injection and VVT on inlet and exhaust cams along with higher compression, so there is more to it than "just a GM lump".
Interesting point about the turbo and manifolds from the 2.8T - same bore on the cylinders with a longer stroke on the 3.2 to make the power, but I think the block is the same. So it'd be nice to assume the port spacing is roughly the same too You'd have to drop the compression ratio though, it's 11.25:1 on the Alfa 3.2...
159 Q4 is nice to drive though, lovely place to sit and that engine sounds very nice.
