Boring Volvo S90 is at end of lease and and not really much value in the lease market these days.

So last week started obsessing over E55s and went and bought this on Saturday as a new daily 'snotter'.

Last of the line 06 model (so upgraded SC with more boost should be 510bhp), low mileage, Ex-collector owned. Serviced at MB main dealer every single year of its life, perfect condition throughout. Full pano roof too which is nice to have.

And to think they used to make cars with lines like this…

Still my dream car. cloud9
It was astonishing how sophisticated this design was. Setting aside for a moment the considerable difference in time - and the subsequent requirements for safety, functionality, content, and so on - it's a bit of a shock to see this Granada alongside something Ford-ish today.
TBF to Frod the same could be said of a number of manufacturers. Arguably the only ones who've improved their design have been the Koreans
I'll go along with that. And, yes, the trajectory of the Korean brands is impressive. From Johnny-come-lately with veritable tin pot designs to some of the most interesting and value-laden cars. And in a number of segments.

I seem set to inherit my Dad's old E-Class, like the one above, following his recent passing. I'm looking forward to long cruises remembering the laughs we had together outside and inside that car, and the joy in Dad's face the day I found it and we went to see it together.

Sorry for your loss
Strangely enough I have just experienced the same thing.
I took his E63 up the the Nc500 for a few days.
Fully reccomend, great for a bit of headspace.

Thanks V 02 smile

@EVOTECH3BELL Wow thats quite a co-incidence, I'm sorry for your loss, grief is st isn't it. The NC500 is something I hope to do in Dad's car, I'm based in Ireland but I have done part of the NC500 before and would love to do more of it, so I might make the effort.

If you ever find yourself in Ireland, West Cork is similar to Scotland, abandoned roads and beautiful scenery the Healy Pass is my personal 'go to' for clearing the head.

Treble weird. I lost my dad 3 weeks ago. His immaculate e-class is sat in the garage untouched. I'd love to take it on but it needs to be sold and I can't afford it. E220 though not E63!

Epic car. I had one a few years ago. Fully de-badged. Raised a few eyebrows at traffic lights when scrotes tried it on in their Novas. It was such a great car for wafting too. You’d arrive at your destination after a long drive feeling as fresh as a daisy. Great choice.

I'm not normally a massive Merc fan but that looks lovely.

I'm not sure it's a massive Merc; more middling-sized, I'd say.

(Sorry.)

Picked it up last night, it is indeed an epic thing. Feels as quick as my old F10 M5, more dramatic with the nose rising haha.

Just needs a bit more noise ideally. New Android 12 headunit ordered and interior will be perfect.

'Slightly' less economical than my previous Volvo S90 but an acceptable price to pay compared to leasing some new 530i for £500/Month!

My 14yr old daughter who is clueless on cars (so is unbiased as genuinely has no idea) guessed it's age as 2 yrs old based on interior condition, a good sign rofl

After watching alot of the Nurburgring 24hrs, I'm gutted that they haven't brought the Elantra N over to the UK & Europe. I can see why (not much of a market, already got the i20/i30/Kona Ns' that already covers most bases), but still I think they look so slick. I would definitely consider swapping my Fastback for one if that was an option.

Side note - I realise that we'd have to stick a front plate on it, which would spoil the front somewhat. I think (?) that the lower front mesh is fake, so could maybe get away with an offset plate a la Alfa.

No one in the UK buys saloons anymore. That’s it.

We get that, the hatch and the fastback here in Australia.

No one wants the fastback or the saloon (called i30N Premium here) they only want the hatch even though it's 5k more and theyve had to stop taking orders for the hatch due to demand).

That is a bit of a headscratcher isn't it? The Fastback even comes with a bit more bootspace but maybe its a styling preference, especially if you guys get access to more four door/coupes than we do.

Over here there aren't really many cars that have the specific couple style/price/performance combo the Fastback has - Merc CLA or Audi RS3 hatchbacks are about 20-30 grand more and probably a different category of motor all together.

It is a style thing I think. The hatch is made out to be track aligned where the fastback and sedan are not. So yeah, an image thing.

I would consider a sedan but it just looks to damn contrived with creases everywhere.

The fastback just looks a little strange so on balance the hatch kinda nails it.

Very true.

Everything is SUV or wannabe cross over machines these days.

I can't preach too much, as an SUV owner / driver
