I won't say obsessing, but I'm looking at 2.5 or 3.0 V6 X-Type's for a winter car.
I never really thought they were worth the money when new, but the prices they fetch now make them seem good VFM.
Am I in for trouble?
A former colleague of mine worked on the project. He said the first ones drove the best...and that the car was subject to a lot of cost downs over time...so if I was buying I'd try to get a lower mileage, older one.I never really thought they were worth the money when new, but the prices they fetch now make them seem good VFM.

I genuinely think that the Audi RS6 has trounced the V8 AMG Mercs of its era in terms of desirability (and because it is all wheel drive, a trens which people are getting into), and residuals have suffered. 2012 E63s and M5s are available for late twenties, with the RS6 of the same year at £40k.https://usedcars.bmw.co.uk/vehicle/201810161536912...

If you want hooligan, the Mercs especially are bargains, with a lovely interior. The BMW is a lovely thing, too, arguably with better running costs than the RS or the AMG (fewer bespoke parts, I believe?).
