My Alfa 105 Junior. Still playing with it, recaro seats coming out tomorrow and period bucket style seats going in. Gearbox leaks have been fixed and a new 2litre engine going in shortly after some issues with valve/piston damage cause unknown.

15mm spacers front and rear, lowering springs, wildwood callipers up front plus some other nice touches on the interior. As I said, subtle indeed but to my eyes, a soul red Recaro edition is a bloody good looking car and the lowering and spacing of the wheels just gives it the right look.

There should be a ban on people putting forward their own cars.

Wheels spacers = decently modified. Really? It’s hardly Chip Foose territory is it?

How to destroy your wheel bearings in one easy lesson. Also, MX5 brake balance is already overly forward loaded causing frequent locking of front wheels. Increasing front braking power is pointless or more correctly foolish, it only increases the ease at which those wheels lock. It is the rears that need upgrading

confused Why on earth do you presume that?

I see from the other posts the definition of decently modified is obviously up for interpretation, that’s fair enough-we all have our own opinions.

As for the MX5, in standard guise I think it’s a nearly there type of car on the looks, the one pictured (simply copied from a readers cars thread) IMHO builds on the standard to get it sitting beautifully and being overall, better looking than it did as it came out of the factory.

I can appreciate other more modified cars that have been “slammed”, have tyrewall stretch or even given a rat look, however for me, those are all a little try too hard.

The MX5 has been subtly modified and looks all the better for it.

In my humble opinion wink

15mm spacers is never going to cause wheel bearing damage and increasing the size of your calipers also doesn't improve stopping performance of a set of brakes so both points are null but it still stands that it barely justifies being called modified unless you're an insurance provider.

I'll give you the 15mm spacer one, yes it will increase bearing loading but very marginally.

As for brakes, you've misread my comment, the point is that MX5 front brakes are already too powerful and this is why front lock-up is all too common on these cars. Increasing calliper power cannot improve braking, it can only cause lock-up to occur more easily. MX5 owners know very well that braking performance is best achieved by a combination of rear brake upgrades and stickier front tyres. People who add calliper energy to the front are laughed out of the park on the MX5oc forum

It won't even do that it done properly though. It'll just improve pedal feel and fade resistance.

Of course if done badly (ie without other adjustments), yes it'll mess up brake balance.

Agreed, I've just read back, i didn't realise it was a members car though I do agree that posting your own car on this thread is poor form

I think the MX5 looking good, but does not really fit this thread, wheel spacers are not my idea of a modified car.

Jesus wept, your ability to read is probably only second worse to your ability to understand all things mechanical.

It’s not my car. It’s not as far as I’m aware a PH’rs car. It’s a picture grabbed from another forum of what I consider to be a nice, subtly modified ND MX5.

You may disagree of course, that’s your opinion. But try to stop getting sand in your vagina over a picture of a fairly nice looking car. You twerp.
