My favourite modern-ish BMW shape (1M) with my favourite modern-ish BMW engine (E92 V8). Yes please!
That is just lovely and a perfect spec
Great that you appreciate it, I was afraid it might have got lost amongst the many BMWs in this thread.

It was built by a firm called Masterclass in the USA, there are a few videos of the workshop on YouTube, some of the chaps other project BMWs are perhaps even better than the 1mV8. His E30 M3 collection is astonishing, he has a road car spec one that has been rebuilt almost entirely of new old stock parts.

Not a fan of that, the back looks like someone squashed a PT Cruiser.

I like the idea of these shooting brakes though. Would love a new version of a Z3M coupe for daily dog duties

Front and side look OK; back is a mess.

The back end does actually use reshaped pt cruiser panels.

I think we can all agree that it was a silly, ill-thought-out contribution.
Added to that, Ken Block is a k*ob
Aye, Ken is the knob here...

Why?
indeed - strikes me that he's living the dream. Good luck to him
Been watckinh The Gymkhana Files on Amazon. Block comes across as a good guy, and with little of the star/dhead factor.
Agreed.

Comes over as a pretty genuine guy and a real enthusiast.

Does this count as decently modified? I'm a bit torn on it. Overall seems good, but a bit rough/tatty round the edges...

No real problem with the replica RS200's out there. But this one is a MR2 (so not 4wd) and just sits all wrong.

However.

There are better looking ones out there that also run the ubiquitous Cossie engine

Fact I did not know - he was the co-founder of DC Shoes, which sold for $100m, launching his fast car and driving hobby/career. Who knew?!
I’m sure quite a few (including me).

I also knew
I also didn't.

Nice chap. Met at Goodwood and not a hint of prima-donna.

I'm pretty certain the second picture is a real one.

I believe this one was often featured on PH - looks pretty good for a replica too.

Ummm that looks great!

So - about the price of a really nice Cobra replica or a GT40 kit... I think I'd be tempted with the RS200 actually.

Looks like a 1M at first glance, it's a 135i shell (with a sun roof) with complete genuine 1M bodywork (as in every weld is where it should be from factory) then underneath it is a E92 M3 with the V8 engine,6 speed manual gearbox, running gear, suspension (including fully functional EDC) steering & braking, rear end and wheels..

I think this has just become my perfect modern BMW.
Crikey that's a seriously well-built bit of kit. The only slight mod I'd do with a fantasy modern BMW shopping list would be swap the V8 for a V10.

Isn’t the V8 a newer design? The M5 v10 is certainly less common and obviously longer so a tougher fit?

Datsun 620 with a Toyota 1UZ -FE transplant and some *serious* work.

Backstory and initial bit of the build here https://www.lextreme.com/forums/index.php?threads/...
before he went all instagram https://www.instagram.com/3d_magic_mike/?hl=en

Found a bit more non-instagram build on it (mostly the same as lextreme but some extra stuff) https://ratsun.net/topic/70329-the-engineered-1uz-...
