There was a Hillman Hunter estate in a similar style where I grew up in Kent. As chroming was expensive I assume, they'd used a small stainless sink as a diff cover. It made me laugh even then.

Seen on a FB group. Yup, it’s a Mk 1 Escort Estate: Rover V8/auto, Jag IRS rear, flip front, dralon interior etc. Built 30 years ago I believe.
