As with others, the SEC isn't my usual style but I st beill like it.
I also dislike the rear lights, though. Completely red ones would work better IMO.

The current one's look cheap and nasty and the originals too dated for the obseslly look (imo)
So yes, all red is the solution - certainly to my eyes anyway.

Next project after the SEC is finished, and the MX5 racecar building on the ramps at the moment is finished is definitely going to be a modified 914.
Relatively easy to find, easy enough to work on (i think!), and there are two of us in the village going to take it on - so costs split. Plus plenty of engine swap options , including a subaru to replace the VW van engine, or even an LS swap option....
Something like this - clean, widebody, lowered of course, chassis strengthened and a rollcage.... big fuch wheels. I think these can be done very tasefully, and it's not as if you're ruining an all time classic if you start with a tired VW engined version. Plan to start from 2023...
I had a wide arched 914 in red many moons ago. Unfortunately pre internet when parts were far harder to source and stupidly expensive. One of the outer door handles snapped (nasty monkey metal) and it was nigh on £400 for a replacement. The injection had been binned for a single Weber but it wasn't exactly quick. It was great fun but just didn't have the performance to match those great looks. The stock gearbox shift was woeful though. If only I could have squirrelled it away till now. I'd go Subaru turbo power and race car livery. I think they're great little cars and the rear view is one of the best for me. Always loved the 914 and didn't realise you could still get them for reasonable money. Make a great project car. I assume an early 911 will fit.
Yep, early 911 6 fits easily enough ... the 914-6 came with them, but they’re up to 10 times the price of the smaller engine one and already something you wouldn’t want to modify. But, that’s still a complex engine to run and maintain. Lots of money can be sunk into rebuilds; expensive to buy as well.
I figure it it’s modified anyway, do something more modern and easier to live with. More I read up, more I think an LS swap..: it’s a light engine , believe it or not.
And on the SEC, responding to All Of The Internet: I like my rear lights so there. All red is too American.

On the SEC, it needs one of those white pinstripe rear light kits from the 80s.
Yes! My memory had filed those in to the "Do not open" drawer but here we are, decades later with a subject they'd suit! Imho of course.....love the stance ( urghhh) at drive height, wheels, everything really. Good job fella!gruffgriff said:

I'm not usually a fan of aftermarket wide arch kits either.

I would quite like to get it back on the road after seeing this white 560...and similarly modified.
It's that lovely light blue colour with dark blue leather. Will post a pic tomorrow. I have known the car for 10 years, structurally and mechanically good, surface bubbling. Very salvageable.

Get that car saved and duly pimped. Some cars are just made for modifying.... It's that lovely light blue colour with dark blue leather. Will post a pic tomorrow. I have known the car for 10 years, structurally and mechanically good, surface bubbling. Very salvageable.
