Talking of BMW running gear swaps, I'll put this here rather than the "other" thread for 2 reasons - firstly that it's so wrong but the right kind of wrong, and secondly, the seller is quite puzzled about the whole shenanigans which is quite endearing!

Winter project anyone?

It's interesting...but personally I'd want to know if the chassis has been messed with or not and what axles etc are on it. That would dictate if it's "just" an issue of a change of engine, if it'll need a Q or if it needs a full blown IVA.

Yes, that would be sensible. It isn't the work of a weekend, certainly. The engine and gearbox have already been changed, so that is a fair chunk into the points system, and it would be sensible to consider that the rest of the car needs upgrading to match. If I were going to keep that engine in that car, I'd dry sump the engine allowing it to be moved back and improve weight distribution, and convert it to a manual gearbox (hopefully a smaller gearbox), along with all of the other jobs that it needs. I do like the way it looks, though.

E39 M5 full running gear, custom exhaust, ESS charger kit, all wiring integrated, only body mod is the bonnet bulge, AP brakes.
It’s gorgeous and all done by the owner.

No, and he'd probably be a bit miffed at me posting it as he's quite private about some things.
I'll risk his ire because it's such a brilliant job it deserves to be on this thread. 8's were cheap when he started it, he admits he couldn't afford to do it now and so it's completely irreplaceable on that basis.

It drives beautifully and is a proper handful despite being sorted.

Mazda MX-5 Round Headlights

So... Is this a handsome alternative? Or simply trying too hard?

Only the front body panels are replaced. It's a kit obviously. Article here:

Yes, I imagine that it's a matter of context.

Take the white one, above. With the right camber (rear wheel) the result might be quite good.

I do like that such a thing is offered. Can't be drenched in caricature, though. Restraint and all that.
