This one has, if I recall, been discussed on other forums. Apparently it isn't an F40. It's a replica possibly based on an MR2 although I stand to be corrected.
It's not a geninue F40.

Easiest thing to spot is the lack of front quarter light on the door window frame on that abandoned car. Geninue F40's have it, or sliding plexiglass panels.

You are not allowed to be in debt, it is very serious.
Nope, it's perfectly ok to be in debt, just make sure you keep up the repayments. wink

Just Google it and you'll find plenty more info about this. Story broke last August so car's probably looking even worse now...

Doesn't everyone in the UAE already have like 4 enzo's anyway?
I'll do em all a favour, and remove it for them, and i'll even do them a 50% discount for all my hard work.

Don't cry - it's a fake. Have a good look at the pic, the proportions are all wrong.

Thank god for that. Im comparing it to a real one, but cant pick out any differences(im blaming the sand) what gives it away?

Sharia law prohibits "interest" on a loan. It doesn't make debt in itself illegal.
Only if you're muslim. I paid interest on my loan in Dubai.
Interest is often just called profit; loans are advertised with a profit rate for the bank rather than an interest rate. Profit is not a dirty word here in the ME!

Definitely a mk1 MR2, popup headlamp covers, triangle at the front of the door glass where the mirror would normally be, the shape of the door glass, the clips around the rubber door seal and general shape of the canopy are all a dead giveaway when you look closely. As a mk1 enthusiast who lusts after an F40 I'm not sure what to think of it.

That looks familiarly like the Police impound to me.

The fines over there are around £100 a go for reasonable speeding offences but depending on how much over the limit you go and how many fines you have they can impound the car for a period of time.

It doesn't take long to collect dust and if the car isn't collected within 6 months the police auction them off along with the number plates which often fetch big money.

As a car loan is essentially a mortgage over there they just seize the asset and auction it off. The owner probably lost his job or something and fled leaving the banks to pick up the mess (although these days its a dangerous as international banks can track you).

It's correct though that to not pay your debts there is a criminal offence. I think the law has changed but to bounce a cheque is jailable. When you take out a car loan you often have to sign a blank cheque as security to the bank. When you default they try and cash the cheque (knowing you can't pay it and it will bounce) and the next thing you know you have a warrant out for your arrest.
Tallies with what my brother tells me. 3 months missed payments roughly max then you are fked. Miss three payments and the bank then cashes your blank signed cheque to the amount of the full debt which then bounces.

Border control are immediately notified and you cannot leave the country. If you attempt to do so passport is seized and you get locked up. I believe you are given an opportunity to settle the debt even after the bank bounces the cheque but they are extremely inflexible.

I think the reason this happens a lot is because of lot of these cars are bought with post dated cheques rather than traditional credit and bouncing cheques will land you in jail in UAE. When people loose their jobs they tend to flee back to the UK before the cheques start bouncing.

There was one of those 'homes from hell' (could have actually been it) about what happens when things go wrong for expats in the ME and would ring true in this case.

One family were made to sign post dated cheques for the 'loan' on their property in Dubai, then the guy lost his job, they literally had to get them and the 3 kids out of the country sharpish.
