I really Like it. The front is played down a little too much and the rear spoiler doesn't quite fit with the Exige 'style' but otherwise a well rounded and finished car.....i'd love one, Love the idea of a supercharged v6 right behind you too..

I'm curious why to be honest? Similar weight, slightly lower power, interior is piss poor having looked round it at Autosport International, and it's £15k more expensive than the Exige S which everyone is calling too expensive.
and it has silly doors

Looks nice.

For my money I'd go for something less hardcore and more rounded from Porsche though.
Depends what you want, but I'm not sure if I want an Exige S or an Evora S now! Or an F-Type. Just have to drive them all and win £60k first I guess.

Not sure of turn-key prices, but how would an Ultima with a 350hp engine stack up; specs seem fairly similar?

I do love the Ultima but I imagine it would be a real handful when trying to keep up with the Exige S and probably not ultimately as fast as the chassis / engineering won't be anywhere near as trick. Still a lovely, lovely thing though. There is only one way to find out - race!

Agree that the "carbuncle" rear bumper is a bit extreme.

Can't really see where all the extra cash has gone. OK they've had the development costs for the new rear subframe/suspension assembly and a few tweaks ... but essentially it's still a kit of parts already available to Lotus.

Surely this is why car's like this are more, not less, expensive than MX5's, Porsches etc? If you're designing and building the whole thing and gearing towards selling 100,000, you can afford to lose/make minimal profit on some components, then just dollop a profit margin on top of the overall cost of the package. If you're buying in parts, then another party has already made their profit from each component ordered. Anything Lotus design/make themselves will suffer from poor economies of scale and thus also be expensive.

Am I being simplistic?

That's debatable. Eye of the beholder etc.
The difference is one is built by a company that is taking strides forward and the other is a company that has lost its way.

As for the interior of the G60, that is constantly, like other parts of the car, being improved.

Steve Sutcliffe seems to like the G60 in this vid. It's on the road presence... which will turn heads, the new Exige or the G60?

And re price, I take it you did see the c. (circa) in front of the Exige price?

Then you might like the Exige S Roadster because it won't have a rear bumper and lightly toned down 'lip'. I'm aiming for a Roadster, with paddles so the missus can share driving hoping for a chip in haha not to mention my left foot braking habits all the way into corners. Open top for some relax driving when not on heat and I don't need to train for a bank job crawling in and out of the car with the top off...I also feel not much chassis strength is missed with the Roadster judging by the natural design of that chassis being like a motorcycle's aluminium two beam as priority hence those high sills...looking forward

Lost its way? The thing it is has been criticised most for is striding too far forward!

What he said.

Proof is in the pudding.

It has far too much quality and skills to fall by the wayside, I hope Lotus succeed.

And Ginetta is a great little company, but it is a tiny company still in car manufacturing terms. I think the G60 and Exige S will both turn heads Dandarez but I for one don't buy cars to be looked at.

So expensive! worked rebuilding and doing on-track support on two 2-elevens in Europe and I was shocked at how simple these cars are. The 53000quid price tag is just out of order. The 2-eleven was said to be a tack ready car and I beg to differ, the thing blows up if left standard, there are so many improvements needed to make it capable of 20 laps.

Dont get me wrong, I love Lotus and Colin Chapmans legacy but there is some serious cleansing needed at Hethel so the real boys can build real cars at a real price for us die hard drivers.

what mid-engined car with the sort of performance and experience this car offers would you buy instead then and how much would you save?
