VW & Apple, without a doubt the two most overhyped brands going today, a real success of style over substance.

OK. Good handling cars - courtesy of Mr Harris. GT3RS, his E28, Lotus Evora, adjustable suspension? No. Good handling cars set up by experts, not silly tecno slaves with their strokey-phones who have no idea.
Big marketing gimick. Good luck to KW.
Ideal for trackdays? How much time are you willing to spend titting around with your strokey-phone attaining that imagined gain of .5sec a lap? Hell, just go and buy some good quality shox, get them set up properly and go and enjoy your car. Switch off the strokey-phone and chuck it in the glove box, better still in the bin.
The world is becoming engulfed in a sea of app-asses.....

What it really needs is a few more sensors + GPS. Then it dynamically sets itself up as it learns by experience. Now that would be nice.smile

Forgive me if I am wrong but the GT3RS has a very similar suspension system standard (PASM) http://www.porsche.com/all/media/pdf/Catalogue_911... PAGE 57

PASM - 2 way button - normal and sport, my DDC equipped 1M has a 3 way button - comfort, sport & sport+ (app control is a optional extra for those who know what they are doing to allow them to set up an additional 5 settings....)

That does not sound like the gt3rs runs a passive chassie to me!

Alot of people know alot about having never experienced the kit themselves, but expected! : )

OK Point taken. But the 3 settings are derived from lots of testing by experts at the Porsche factory, not some knob playing with a strokey-phone.
Also, this is on a factory build car. Not some aftermarket kit. KW will be well pleased with the sales methinks.
Oh, I have driven and owned a number of high performance cars and done chassis set ups during my 40+ years in the trade. So I do know a bit about the subject. Not as much as any factory guys I would admit. Just a little based on real experience.....

Sorry that is incorrect, drop the whole iphone and app thing, it isn't the main control unit...(again it's an option for those who wont to develop an additional 5 settings, no real difference to conventional coilovers that are readily available from all suspension companies) nor is the 3 settings made up by some 'knob' playing with a phone, here you go http://www.kw-suspensions.co.uk/uk/kw_7post_test_d...
check out KW's site or better still if you are ever in Germany drop in, no doubt they will be happy to show you around, maybe even give you a run on their 7 post hydraulic rig which is usually reserved for F1 teams (a number of manufacturers use KW's rig for their factory backed race teams, BMW being one of them), that is where the 3 pre set settings have been developed and set up from plus their testing at the ring just like the 'factory' guys. KW are currently building a new large test/development centre at the ring, once it's finished no doubt they will show you how they develop their wears, but don't be confusing the 3 preset settings with a as you put it 'a knob with a iphone', as that is actually incorrect even for someone with your 40yrs experience smile

KW's 7 post rig setting up BMW's MOTOGP safety car which runs KW 3way clubsports (so does the M5 safety car, the M3 GTS and CRT)

the in car 3 way button that is used

Was the adjustable damping in one of the new Jag's that stiffened the suspension when the button was pressed, then just tapered back to it's old comfort settings? Basically Jag saying "Sure, we need this to compete in the market, however really we'd like just a single setup as we know best!"

Aussieinlondon - thanks for posting your first hand experience. It's a shame that a lot of the posters on here have not taken the time to read before they post.

My car carries only me during the week but has to do family stuff at the weekends. A switchable system would be perfect but sadly the KW system is not available for my car. If it was, I'd seriously consider it.

It's nothing to do with VW or Apple. The car in the KW's press release just happens to be a Golf. Might be worth reading the article again and also a few posts on this thread.

Awesome bit of kit!

Is it just me or there a lot of thickos and wet blankets of this thread?

Kudos to aussieinlondon for the gentlemanly replies to those obviously making comments just to put him (and/ or the kw kit) down in order to justify their pathetic existence. I wish I could have his restraint.

The KW DDC unit is similar in part to the semi-active dampers such as EDC; PASM; DDC and MagneRide. I waited for it for ages however opted to keep the semi-active unit on my car as the KW unit mimics it in operation.

I have a MagneRide equipped car which, once understood and setup correctly with suitably matched springs, makes a passive setup so one-dimensional / restrictive in use especially for a car that is driven to track as opposed to put on the back of a trailer.

The passive / semi-active arguments noted here is irrelevant...automation is the way forward IMO...Ohh, who here still has the following and prefers it...;
- Central locking and via remotely operate key as opposed to individual locking / non-remote key?
- Manual wind-up windows as opposed to electric...?
- Manual gearbox on an SUV as opposed to auto?
- Manual garage door as opposed to auto (bit snobby I know but...)?
- Manual door mirrors as opposed to electrically operated?
- Hand written letters as opposed to send electronic mail (e-mail)?
- Manual labour as opposed to office based pen pushing job?

Answers on a hand written postcard pls sent to No. 1 The Old Post House, Manual Lane, Village-Middle-Of-Nowhere, MAN 8UL...

...this is a great shed, I'm not a great haggler but let's say £550 cash for this. eBay the rear spoiler (accord type r?) for £40.00. eBay the wheels (will they fit the civic? If so somebody will have them) wait for the proper wheels to come up and this then should be a straight swap. Then a full service, sort out any minor niggles and this thing will give you another 100k. The fact it's not a Vti is great, it never would have been thrashed. Best she'd ever, IMO.
