Just don't damage the front clam shell bonnet, seem to remember one of my collegues having a coming together with a ford at a junction, and a bonnet is/was approx 12k, lovely honeycomb construction!
I thought that was one of those urban folklore things. That and it's only the 456M that had the carbon-fibre bonnets (at around £4k), the 456 that preceded it made do with steel.

Top punting though , will look forward to hearing of its progress. biggrin

That was back in '02, so may have come down, but knowing Ferrari part stock levels they will be up there still, 'if' you can get hold of one.

why, are the bonnets a specifically excluded item on the insurance then??
??, just merely recounting how expensive the bonnets were....

Bonnets were composite honeycomb. Also only stated the price of replacement back in '02. The 456 and M had aluminium panels attached to the steel chassis with Feran.

Exactly the quote I was considering posting, perhaps prefaced with "Let's hope..."

Underbidder on a £19k 456 in Le Mans Blue a couple of years ago on a trade auction site, then saw it up about £27k a week later. ho hum. You can tell I'm still a bit miffed.

It's the heart thing - because I have always seen cars as being profit (or loss) on a balance sheet I just struggle to buy with my heart - so everything is massively over researched and then inevitably they have issues and I panic and worry about losing money so out them.

Of course boats and bikes are bought with less thought than goes into deciding whether to have beer or wine with my dinner, are all money pits and are all forgiven their sins because I love them!

So I salute your love sir and enjoy every day, I wish I could lose my heart to a tasty Italian!!

I live my life by one rule though

NEVER BUY A GREEN CAR
LOL and here i thought I was the only one with such a rule. I have noticed that any manufacturer whose vehicle is on the second hand market and green, is always much lower in asking price than the other colors.

Talking of gear knobs, the early F1 355's were always fun to park, as we would often have 30-40 cars parked up in the workshop at night within inches of each other (250 california spyder included). Getting the first F1 transmission cars to allow 'creep' in 1st or reverse always made it more 'interesting'. Too few revs, nothing, 50rpm more and the cluch would bite..hard, and you didn't so much creep as lurch. Made any good driver look like they were going to need a few more lessons before passing their test. Then they updated the software and problem solved.
I was fantasising about my Aventador that I'll someday have (about the same time as I become a powerfully built company director) and I was ohnestly wondering about how to drive non-slush-powered automatics like said Aventador, in parking spaces. Is it an art form, or can you just let your foot off the brake pedal and get slushbox-style creep with them?
