Alfa Romeo Bertone GT Junior £15,000
Alfa GTV V6 CUP £6000-£7000
Renault Megane R26 F1 £7000-£8000

I would keep my beloved 156 SW for very day use.

Lexus LS430 - family car / barge sorted. 4k
Any cheap scooter 1k
500bhp Subaru Impreza 10k

Leaves you with another 15k for hookers and blow.

Not interested in a derv, about the only thing left might be a convertible. Pick up a cheap MX5 and drive it into the ground, while keeping the balance of cash on hand for "incidentals".
Liking your thinking. The Charlie Sheen school of economics, the Tiger blood courses through your veins

Is a CSL really that much better than a standard E46 M3 though?

.
I think the magazines think it is, I've driven neither so can't comment. I think the E46 M3 is a cracking car if you want a high performance daily driver but the CSL is 20% more focused and to take an E46 up to that spec will cost you a shed load. The carbon fibre roof idea is the nuts and those wheels are gorgeous. And if you spend 25k on one you'll lose less in depreciation than spending 12k on a regular one - if you lose at all. Its all in the details and the CSL has so many great ones . Shame about the gearbox though

Actually the Megane R26 or new shape 250 is a really good shout.

If was blowing it all on one would try and find a 996 911 Turbo or a Nissan GTR - need to get a black one of those to go with my black R32.

A late, low mileage E38 Mora Individual Edition in V12 form, around £8-10k.

An E39 M5, ideally Imola Red:

A Range Rover 4.4 Vogue:

The M5 might instead be either an E46 M3 Coupé (manual, 18s) or Z3 M Coupé, also ideally in Imola Red with corresponding interiors.

Have a look in the back - be lucky to get your weekly food shop in the back! More room in the boot of the saloon!

The CSL is much better on the track and you can extract some of that feel on the road. It feels like a much lighter car but with the power of an M3.

As for the gearbox, the SMG makes the M3 great and on a track, its the only logical choice.
