TVR Cerbera as the main event and wicked weekender. c£25k for a 4.5 or a well sorted 4.2

£5k to build a fast but disposable track/race car out of an MX5 or similar.

Then the £50 I spent on my trusty Golf GTI as a daily driver smile

I didn’t realize this thread was originally posted in 2012 at first, so was reading thinking these prices are unrealistic. I wish it was still possible to get a BMW M3 CSL or Lotus Carlton for around £20K – I would be buying one!

In the interests of the thread, I would spend £30K on upgrading my current cars and buying a couple more too.

I would put £10K into my Supra to get it to the specification I want. A single turbo conversion making a quick spooling 600BHP, Work Meister S1 wheels, some more body modifications, and a few bits on the interior including some bucket seats. Perfect!

I would put another £5K into my Trans Am. This would include some paintwork, the engine bay and block cleaned and painted, a new carburetor and inlet manifold, performance headers, delete the A/C and a few smaller jobs too.

With those attended too, I would spend £10K on the best BMW M3 I could find. A facelift manual coupe, ideally.

The remaining £5K, plus whatever I could sell my current Golf GT TDI for, would be spent on a nicer diesel commuter car. Something automatic ideally, maybe a BMW 320D or Volkswagen Sirocco? I haven’t put a lot of thought into this one.

About £7k on a Citroen C6, for comfy wafting.
About £6k on a Citroen 2cv for local trips.
About £17k on a Citroen DS, for more comfy wafting and looking at.
