I couldnt agree more. Usually when CEO's break the rules they are put on full paid Garden Leave for 6 to 9 months whilst the investigation takes place, and then they are dismissed with a big fat golden handshake. This guy has been axed in what would be considered a very short time for an average memebr of the shop floor work force, let alone a member of the board.
He either did something serverly wrong (and obvious), or this is just the tip of iceberg of his downfall.

Only just seen this, all I have to say really is 'Boo frickin hoo!!'
Hopefully they can stop faffing about now and start making some good desirable cars (Exige S is the perfect starter for the 'new' era), that'll do more for them than any marketing involving a rapper.
exactly, and the sad reality is that if it was not the Dannyboy pissing all the money (for suppliers etc) up the various walls, the Exige S would have hit the road several months ago (if not 12+).Hopefully they can stop faffing about now and start making some good desirable cars (Exige S is the perfect starter for the 'new' era), that'll do more for them than any marketing involving a rapper.
Just to be clear, the Exige S was well in plan before he appeared on the scene.

...DB seemed to provide Lotus with a vision and long-term plan...
Shame he forgot to get a short term one though. Toyota had already stopped production of the 2ZZ engine (used by the Elise/Exige/211) before he took over. His answer to the fact there would be no cars to sell in a couple of years? Cancel the V6 Exige development and close the dealer network.
The 1.6 Elise and (eventual) V6 Exige seem to have been them finally realising that they couldn't sit there for another 3 years with no cars to sell while the new range was being worked on.
I can't help but think if Mike Kimberley had still been here Lotus would be in a better position.
Shame, as I really liked the look of the new cars (new Elan for me), and I think the GTE looks much better than the base Evora. But they completely ignored the existing core product range.

Also, Lotus would be allready history without Dany Bahar. You can not run a business anymore, by selling hardcore lightweight cars, as great as they are, these days are over. Lotus needed and NEEDS a visionary like Bahar! Just look at the impact, the new Exige S had allready made, this is Bahars (and his Team's) child. So stop telling the same BS again and again, that Lotus has to stick to his lightweight pilosophy, it was right years ago, but times chanche, markets chanche and Lotus has to chanche as well!!
Bahar canned the V6 Exige initially, along with a £100k Evora-based Esprit that was due in 2010 and was pretty much ready to go. Without Bahar Lotus would currently be selling everything it does at present plus a convertible version of the Evora and an Esprit. Instead he decided to can everything, fire the dealers, rubbish the newly launched Evora in interviews and launch an ambitious (and expensive) five year plan. If it had worked he would have been hailed a visionary. If it had worked.

The Company today also announced the appointment of Mr Aslam Farikullah (known to his English friends as Andrew) as the Company's Chief Operating Officer with immediate effect. Mr Aslam, aged 51, has over 26 years working experience, most of which was eating rich tea biscuits, watching Eastenders, singing God Save the Queen and just being terribly, spiffingly English whilst donning tweed flat caps. He graduated from the English University of Bath, England with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Being English. A British permanent resident, which as anyone knows is as good as being English and makes one more English than the Queen, Mr Aslam and his English wife of 27 years (who was English before she was even born) have three English children aged 26, 22 and 16, their names are Biggles, Winston Churchill and English Rose.

Well let's not forget that if DB plan to offload Lotus and be rid of it then they need to terminate Bahar ASAP due to his contract. One also wonders if the new chap sees his move to Lotus as a promotion or demotion from where he was and where he was going? By all accounts he has been steadily climbing up the corporate ladder in DB, so we have to ask why a man at his very important age would effectively make a st or bust career move? If his kids were younger then I'd guess they may have wanted to be back in England while they were at school. Maybe the wife wants to return home and this was a good way to do so and remain in the company.
I'm afraid the jury is out for me and there is still every chance that he is merely a caretaker manager until they can tidy it up and sell it on. Just not sure there is cause to celebrate as of yet.

Haha like it.(Please forgive me)
I remember reading in Top Gear not long ago about how Baher was set to take Lotus forward and prosper. I guess you can't count on anything these days.
Aslam Farikullah, well not too much is known about him apart from he has made his name in the industry working his way up with 25 years technical experience. Whether he has what it takes to run a company like Lotus remains to be seen, but I really hope he does. Long live Lotus.

Bahar was a man with a vision, the problem was that that vision was for his future, and prestige rather than that of the company he was in charge of.
He had a five year plan that paid little attention to the core values of his company, wanted to take it into a market segment it was going to struggle to break into, let alone break even trying.
His attiude to pricing had little conception of what the market would bear either. £52k for the Exige S? Rear subframe, new. body shell, newish in parts. Tub, old 13 years old in fact. Engine, bought in and so on.
Thats like Porsche selling the new Cayman for £75k and using the chassis from the 968, engine from a golf and just tweaking the lights...and then saying its exclusive.
Bad money management made the Exige cost that much. Tooling and R&D costs being largely paid should have meant that the Exige should have been more like £35k. And this was all part of Bahar's mad plan to move the brand upmarket, simply by making cars more expensive than the model they replaced.
I hope now that Lotus will go from strength to strength, stick to engineering led cars with a core value of handling over luxury and that they finally get a CEO who knows how to do all that while making money and developing new cars.

And yet it still managed to hold its own in a recent EVO group test where the next cheapest car was £84k and the most expensive was £130k+. I'd call that a bargain. http://joesaward.wordpress.com/2012/06/08/oh-danny...

I disagree, you sell cars based on what the market will pay for it, to make a profitable car this must exceed the manufacturing & overhead costs - in a nut shell!!Bad money management made the Exige cost that much. With the new Exige they have a car that on performance and looks goes head to head with the GT3 for much less money. Sure it is more than the old Exige but the performance has stepped up significantly to.
I actually think in this light a £50k Exige is a bargain, and if it makes Lotus good return on each unit sold, then bloody good for lotus!!!
