Moreover, if you're someone who wishes there was a super-saloon that still had a manual gearbox, this is the only car to fit those criteria.
What about a manual E90 M3??

Sadly manual box doesn't make it any less ugly.

The depreciation of these things is staggering, and the cost is quite incredible relative to the new M5 which offers more of everything for considerably less, if you want a new warp speed uber saloon.
Except a manual gearbox option in the UK.
except a manual gearbox option, full stop.
Isn't the US getting one this time like with the E60, then?

I disagree. Yes they can sometimes have a hard life, but they are cossetted beyond belief between loans to media owners, simply because press garages can't afford for them to go wrong. On a couple of occasions I've had my own cars taken in by the press garage of one well known manufacturer, and it came back feeling like a new car. Many manufacturers will have seperate build lines for their press cars, and they are all checked obsessively to ensure that they are best of breed. Don't forget that press cars typically also have "select all" on the options list, and tend to come LOADED with kit.

I would buy one. With certain manufacturers I'd go out of my way to do so.

I still find the styling a bit challenging, but I bet this really is a weapon, especially with the manual box lick

In a nice dark blue or similar I'd definitely consider one if I was in the market.

I'll keep smoking the pipe then: had three and all were brilliant. Keenly priced, overflowing with equipment and mechanically spot-on.

I'll stick with the Cadillac CTS-V, thanks: 150hp more for half the price. There is the small detail of not having it in RHD, but then I'm not in the UK, so what?
I'll rather go for an automatic "whatever saloon" than bear this fugly design.

I still have to read a single horror story about the quality of the current CTS-V. But then maybe you have one to prove your point?

I've seen CTS on London Motor Show a few years back. It wasn't the most popular car there (that would be R35 GTR) and even that little attention it enjoyed caused the interior trim to come apart...
Maybe mechanical components are better built but the whole car felt kinda flaky.

It's an ungainly bus especially from the rear. That said, I wouldn't mind one when they're sub-£10k Cayenne money in a few years.

Your XJR is slower than (insert any one of a number of irrelevant comparisons here).

What's your point?

A potential buyer for this car is unlikely going to be looking at an XJR. Likewise, a potential buyer of an XJR is unlikely to be looking at this car!

DOH! I had the XKR in my head! Apologies!

But whilst on the subject, Jag XKR vs 911 carrera 2s - the Jag is a lot faster. 911 turbo vs XKR - porsche is faster, but a lot more expensive.

Likewise with the Panamera I would think. The turbo is faster, but a lot more expensive too!
