Thanks for all the words of wisdom guys, i think im going to have a look at a local DC2 to see what i get for my money and go from there.... the lack of depreciation appeals aswell as ive never sold a car for less than i bought it for ( i have spent money on those cars though so is a slight loss).

Take a look on itr-dc2.com its a very valuable resource. You will find owners and ex-owners very helpful there. Rust and suspension do need consideration when buying.

I'll second this. DC2 are very reliable, but if they need a lot of suspension / bushes done and rust, it'll cost ya! Even stock suspension bits aren't the cheapest given that they are pretty bespoke cars.

I'd say the Integra aswell to be honest, I've owned an EP3 and a DC5, and driven a DC2, 172 and 182 Trophy. I'd rank them in this order.

DC5
DC2
EP3
182 Trophy (trophy does handle better than an EP3 but the seating position and lack of 'feeling' quick in the same way the Civic does lets it down)
172

They're all great cars though and you won't be disappointed with any, just IMO the Honda's are the better package as an all rounder.

Beware though, there is a lot of stupidity and mis-information on that forum, hence I never go there anymore.

It's also full of idiots that think everything about JDM cars is different/better than UK cars, when they're 98% the same.

Also beware the supposid tuners that talk a LOT of bks.

And how long did you own a DC2 again?
HEADHSOT!!!!!!!!! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Of course there's a difference between low and high rpm Mr Smartcar, that's kind of a given with how an engine and car fucntions!

The DC2 is perfectly fine for town driving or even overtaking on teh motorway, all this talk of 'no low end grunt' is complete BS. You can happily accelerate briskly even with around 3k rpm when around town, who on earth nails it around town/built up areas anyway apart from silly chavvy scroates?

You will be at the lower end of the market, but try to find one with new bushes throughout and ideally dampers/springs repalced as well. Far to many buyers of these cars focus on the body and recaro condition when the mechanics are what you need to get right! They will all have rust in some form in this price range, but it can be sorted.

In terms of tyres, forget about the RE010, they might have been great, but even if you find some these days, the rubber will be ancient!!! I have Hankook RS2 and they are also excellent, but alas nigh on impossible to get these days. AD08 are teh tyre of choice, there is also the new Bridgestone RE002 to consider.

Some stupidity, generally from newer owners and those who arn't quite as clued up about mods and how they actually affect the car.

The JDM/UK isn't nearly as bad as you say, I generally have a joke about it with people on there sometimes and the Mods don't like the debate coming up. Also, Dixon (DMS) was banned from there and you don't want your car near them and Gerry @ Performanctek has had issues with rebuilds. Performance Autoworks and TGM are the main places to take your car if you're down south.

www.type-r-owners.co.uk is a better resource to be honest. A lot more regular posting members and a lot of people who've had experience with different Type R models. I don't post much but always found the search function useful for any questions I have.

Yeah it gets annoying when only a few weeks ago a certain poster was debating if a Rover 100 with an engine swap would be a better car biggrin Anyway enough of that....

Can I ask why your PP's have bright white lettering, did you replace the seats at some point. Lovely car and pictures.

Dixon was banned for all the right reasons, his attitude absolutely stunk. There is another 'tuner' on there that has got a real tight following and is/was mates with the owner. You couldn't make a sensible post about mods/tuning that was contrary to what he said without a dozen fanboys all popping out of the woodwork and telling you that you're wrong. Most of what they said was absolute poo aswell. That frustrated me more than anything.

Stupid crap like the OEM airbox + resonator made more power and was better than the Mugen airbox. Even when you produce graphs and anecdotal evidence to say this is incorrect, you're still wrong somehow.

Yup, DC5 Recaros. They seem the same apart from the larger lettering.

I've seen that a bit but just stayed away.

The OEM airbox and resonator mods is great, but evidence is needed vs a Mugen or Replica to show how good it is. OEM and mods are great value if you have one already, but I totted up the cost of an OEM box, intake pipe, filter and the other parts needed and it didn't cost much less than an EPRacing Airbox.

Sitll keeping my Injen, as the sound is sensational, even if I lose a bit of power in the mid-range. Plus the noise makes me think I'm going faster than I actually am, which is good for the license biggrin
