I'm guessing Seat had a deal with Fiat at some point because that's far from the only Fiat based Seat I've seen.
I think they rehashed most of the Fiat range until the late 80's laugh

Kia Stinger.

Saw one at the auto show, actually for sale now.

Looked mighty impressive inside and out.

Wanted to put it on the shortlist but it's going to be killed on emissions here, not up to par sadly frown.

But, I had no idea Kia made a well-made, driver focussed 5dr sedan. They do and it makes me happy they do smile.

Wow, are people this young? Fiat owned Seat and badge engineered most of what they had. Long before the Germans bought it.

Seat 133
That was a rebodied Fiat 850, think of it as a bigger Fiat 126.
Seats were all reworked Fiats up until the VW takeover, even at the UK launch of the brand in the late 80s they had a mildly reworked Fiat Strada and Fiat Panda (Ronda and Marbella respectively).
The first Seat Ibiza had Fiat underpinnings but Porsche designed engine and Guigaro designed body (which I understand was their proposal for the Mk2 Golf but VW chose their in-house design).

See also the SEAT Marbella. A Fiat Panda without the nice upgrades the Fiat had hehe

Apart from being mentioned a couple of posts before yours! wink

There’s an immaculate Seat Marbella near my work that I see occasionally in summer. I can’t remember the last time I saw a Panda on the road though

I don't remember the Ronda, but I do remember someone on my street buying a new Marbella. I always thought the first Ibiza was a good looking car

Had issues with heads though so, Porsche or not, still problematic.

I don't consider myself young (43 and a half) as I'm old enough to remember the early Seat range, not that 133 thing though. I remember the Marbella and the 'Porsche' Ibiza and I even remember just how badly the paint faded on them. I still had no idea Fiat owned Seat, I just assumed it was another company recycling old Fiat models like a few other companies did.

Same as the the Lada Samara, engineered by Porsche.

Porsche were close to making this, the Porsche C88.

i think there is a marked difference between a company asking porsche to tweak their car's handling characteristics and give them general advice, and porsche themselves taking the independent responsibility to conceive, design and build a garbage city car.

One of my favourite games when watching road cycling races on the TV is trying to spot Pandas. The best hunting grounds are obviously the Italian races and most likely you'll spot them on someone's drive in the mountain stages. Bonus points if it's a 4x4.

Infiniti FX50S

One passed me on my commute this morning... Lovely to hear a V8 burble rather than a 4-cylinder drone.
