RE: Merc CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake
Discussion
I imagine Harris is desperate to post the 911 footage, however if he was going hard enough vs 997 Turbo S to set the brakes of a brand new AMG ON FIRE, if he does post it, the next time he flies into Stuttgart there may well be a couple of Polizei waiting to have eine kleine konversation with him about it.
To those complaining that a shooting brake is a "2-door estate", things get more sensible if it is defined as a "coupe estate". Everyone lost to Merc's argument that the CLS is a "4-door coupe" in 2005. And they weren't even the first, the Rover P5 came in "saloon" and "coupe" variants, both of which had four doors.
So, the PH Holy Trinity:
1 Car costs more than £15k.
2 it's German

How on earth has this thread made it to 5 pages without the recent offensive rants by the resident retards? Were emails sent?
I always like these big Mercs and nothing really beats an estate when it comes to being silly with big engines.

V8 AMG Mercedes estates have long been my favourites of the M/RS/AMG stable - up until now for the noise, really. I know the Audi does the all weather thig better, and I know the BMWsare meant to be better at ten tenths - but the Merc is just so old school muscly, that I love it.
Now, the design and interior appear to be up there too. I love this car. If I have children, and fuel doesn't cost nine millio punds a cupful, I shall have one - after a few years of depreciation. In a nice quiet dark blue with a cream interior, all badging removed.
Very desirable thing, to me.
Holy thread resurrection, and, just to prove that I am true to my word, with first child due in a month, I have just bought one of these! The Aston (which I didn’t own when I originally posted on this thread - I was in a Morgan Aero in 2012) is going, and the practical family truck will be a 557bhp, rwd Merc E63 estate that has been melted in the microwave a bit, and had a higher spec interior installed. Now, the design and interior appear to be up there too. Shall report back when it arrives.
Thanks chaps. I drove the V8V to Goodwood in Friday and back on Saturday morning. It was awesome on Sussex’s back roads. And the moment I got onto the A3 it was wasted. I have loved having g a sports car in the fleet for 29 years - this will be the first tome I am without a 2-seater in two decades.
I feel that a CLS was the way to deal with this bereavement...
And on topic, between a third and a quarter of its new price. The E63 has held its value better, and Merc disn’t sell as many of these as they thought they would, I think. The new one will not come in an estate flavour, nor in 63 spec I believe.
