This thing sounds terrible.

However, they may well turn the Twingo GT into something a bit more old-style Clio RenaultSport-ish, I'm guessing.

Just get Chris Harris behind the wheel of one of these.

He'll tell us how it compares with the current RS Clio.

Whats wrong with it? Looks better than the Fabia Vrs DSG and the new Golf GTI (DSG) cars which this is confronted with.

The next logical step will be the "Justin Bieber makes engine noises" option.

Any synthesizing of sound should be banned outright. It's pure deception. I'm not particularly fond of the noise my RS Clio 182 makes but at lest it's real!

The turbo engine, I suppose, is 'a must' in this benighted era and probably the mainstream buyer won't know the difference while I guess enthusiasts will just have to get used to it. The simulated engine noise sounds (boom boom) like a load of twaddle but again I suspect the mainstream buyer will be impressed by the gillickery or at least not care. As someone above says, no doubt that could be sorted out after purchase.

But saddling it with 5 doors only and an auto gearbox sounds like cutting the car's nose off to spite its face. I assume one will be able to buy a three door 'regular' Clio, and one with a manual gearbox? So why not give the Renaultsport buyer the option?

I suspect they'll unload this, a certain number will be sold to mainstream buyers looking for a 'sporty little car' and the enthusiasts will pass it by - until a 'surprise' special edition 3-door, manual gearbox RS Clio is released minus the silly sound simulation and available at your local Renault retailer for a 25% premium.

I`m really upset about this, I can`t say my 182 Cup is amazing looking but it is in comparison to this!

I`m CERTAIN that this one will be surprisingly heavy!

I REALLY don`t want a paddle shift!

I REALLY don`t want "realistic" sound, I want REAL sound!

I REALLY want PH to tell Renault that they are losing the plot and a customer (who has had several Renaults and still owns 2)

Looking forward to this tbh.

Dont see why everyone is making such a deal over the engine noises through spakers, yes i agree its pap and tacky, but u turn radio off if you want to hear engine like any other car dont you? If not you will be playing music ?

Like others have said the dsg style box is fine for cars with much higher premiums cant see why its such a bad thing in this. Switch to auto for town traffic and quick slick changes for fun times.

Recaros as standard would be nice but they cant out do the megane...

Whats the dam weight! Thats what i am waiting to hear, if it is heavier or even the same as the 200 which i am guessing it could well be with the bigger brakes it will be very disappointing.

I wish i could get fake noise pumped into my 172 cup, even with a ktec exhaust on it still sounds crap. Covers the rattles mind.

I'd like to be able to comment properly on this, but I've never had any great interest or love for hatches - hot or otherwise (although an R32 Golf wouldn't be out of the question...). What I can say is this: I imagine if you're looking for a compromise of performance and practicality, excitement and ease-of-use, then this isn't a bad package. You get the five door practicality, you get 200bhp on tap, you get a decent choice of suspension set-ups, and you get fuel economy/tax to keep everyone smiling (compared to a real performance car). Even the flappy paddle will keep most people happy because it makes it easier to perform decent changes (again if you prefer ease of use to effort/reward). As for the fake noise... well, someone must like it otherwise marketing wouldn't keep telling their engineers to install such a thing.

Maybe I'm missing something about hot hatches, I don't know - but overall it's not the worst package out there.

having been a renaultsport fan for some time im afraid this clio is doing nothing for me,
looks like a seat from behind and god only knows from the front,
oh and the gearbox alone would be a large put off for me,
exhaust noise through the speakers hahahahahaha what a joke

This.

Shame because the little Clio has been a great hot hatch over the years, I know everyone has gone turbo, but renault have ruined this car, and it just looks st which is really not helping matters. Olso the fake engine noise, and no option for manual gearbox has all but killed off what a Clio Renaultsport stands for.

I dont understand this hatred for paddle shift boxes. If its good enough for a 458 or McLaren or a bloody F1 car then why not on a hot hatch?

Currently have a Megane 250 but I will consider one of these.
Who said they were "good enough"?????

They are HORRIBLE on a road car detracting from involvement and make most people look like utter berks when parking!

As for efficiency, great, that`s what F1 is meant to be about but a road car? I want involvement!

If I get to a point where I have £150k to spend on 1 car it will have 3 pedals no matter how quickly or efficiently a PDK/F1/DCT/SST box can shift, not because I think I can shift better or more quickly but because I enjoy doing it!

Fact is, you quite fancy one, I hate the idea of one, so there should be a choice!
