well mine is still ok over a year old.. saying about power tho'.
I do run mine from a Nokia branded 12v to dual USB power adaptor with a long cable from fleabay.. so it might have been a dodgy power adaptor that took yours out?

After all the problems I had I'm looking at the 0801 from E-Prance on Amazon.

Do you run both front and rear?

It's worth noting that this camera chassis has many different types of internals, you can have two side-by-side and one will be crap while the other good.

To add my own experience - the Mini 0801 doesn't like Class 10 cards (the manual says this - but typically you don't read that until after purchase!).
It does say that, but I'm running a class 10 card in the 0801 I got for Christmas and it's behaving perfectly.
I've been using mine with a class 10 since Christmas also, and its been fine.

I've got one of these - still the only budget one with front and rear cameras. Usual Chinese stuff, reasonably well featured but very fiddly to use. In the end switched off all the g-sensor stuff - if something happens i'm going to copy the file off anyway so it won't get overwritten. It worked well for a while but realised that the video would freeze for a while but the sound continued. Not a codec issue. Eventually fixed with a card format.

If you get a decent one it's pretty good.

I don't think I've seen anybody mention this model, but do any of you have a Mini 0801 that Techmoan reviewed a few weeks ago?
http://www.techmoan.com/blog/2013/8/31/the-mini-08...

The little screen on this one really appeals, and Techmoan himself said he was going to be using it for a while. Anybody else got any experience with it?
I've ordered one last week from China. Estimated delivery 29th October although in my experience a couple of weeks is more realistic.
Perfect, just the sort I've been waiting for! Ordered. smile
Please update when working smile
Forgive my ignorance, but the link from techmoan to amazon is for a model with a built in 8GB memory. Is an additional memory card necessary therefore? I am not tech minded at all so if it is needed, can anyone give pointers as to what spec or, better still, a link to a suitable one?

We now have two of these, they are very good. I bought both from Amazon, and bought the suggested 32GB SD card for each. You can put them behind the rear view mirror, have them hard-wired (or just plugged into the cigar lighter socket) and then forget about them - until needed.

The latest I bought is this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F2GMWCG/ref=...

(the first is without GPS logger and a little cheaper)

And this is the SD card:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007JTKLEK/ref=...

The in-built memory is no good, as when it's used up, the camera stops recording, but with the SD card, it records hours of film (all split into smaller segments) and then records over the first once full - but you can save the parts you need to if there is an incident.

Thanks Chris for the reassurance. There are so many of these on the market that it's hard to know which way to turn. Add to that the Chinese knock-offs etc to have to steer around and it's a minefield. Just as I thought I had made a decision I then saw the Blackvue non-GPS model (I don't want GPS) for £135 and that was a nice slimline design also. Being from a "known brand" I wondered if it was worth looking in that direction....

I don't actually have a rear view mirror in my car as it has no rear visibility anyway so the mirror is pointless and just obstructs some of the (limited) frontal view. With a relatively small windscreen whatever camera I choose needs to be very small and discrete - both for security purposes and to avoid reducing frontal visibility also. Something slim and narrow would fit the bill.

Power wise I have a 4 socket extension to the cigarette lighter wired in underneath the dash. I already run a cable behind the B-pillar for a road angel that is fixed to the roof just in front of where the rear view mirror would ordinarily sit. The plan is to run a secondary power lead for a DVR camera in the same fashion. Any rough idea on the cable length to see whether I will have enough length to do so out of the box?

I will order one of those 32GB cards too then - is there a certain class of card I should be aiming for?

I edited my last post to include links to the card/s I bought. They do come from China, but I can confirm that they are the real thing - it is small and quite unobtrusive, even without a mirror to hide it, I think.

Thanks. I've no idea how I survived the first 133 months without your valid input.
