I fitted an E36 rack to my E30, was night and day. I think the Z3M rack is the quickest, but also rarest? You'll need to mod the steering coupling from rack to column, the splines differ from E30 to later versions...(you get them both and make one out of them)

Looks like a load of fun.

I also agree with your point about slippery seats; I don't understand why sportscar manufacturers don't use grippy hi-tech fabrics on their seats as a matter of course.

Just another thing to worry about from warranty claims, best not to engineer in ripped bolster seams!

Great article, looks like tonnes of fun! Video was a great watch. Love how each side of the car is missing a different strip too, looks proper rough and ready!

No, don't get the Z3M rack, you want just a normal Z3 rack

Are spectators allowed at single venue events, it seems more accessible than driving out to a forest to seen ten minutes of action.
It depends on the venue, events held at race circuits like Brands and Goodwood generally do allow spectators - and against the odds it is also generally free to enter smile Goodwood is a particularly good venue to spectate at with some interesting vantage points like the roof of the pit buildings. The next event there is the Winter Stages which I think is on the 24th November.

Many single venue events are held on MOD land and at these spectating is often not allowed, however you can always sign up as a marshall and get close to the action... Have a look on www.britishrally.co.uk for details of events.

I also compete in BMWs, in fact I have a very nice BMW M3 Compact for sale should Chris and Dan decide they want to upgrade... I look forward to catching up with them at an event somewhere smile NB the car for sale is the blue one on my website below

Agreed! People swap the Z3M rack for the 1.8 Z3 rack - I think the narrow bodied Z3's (1.8 etc...) had the quickest racks of the lot!
