Check out some of their other stock! Aventador to name but one.
One trundled past the pub during Thursday evening's Thread beers.I not really a supercar fanboy, but it really was quite something.
Is that E500 very cheap or about on par? I'm having bad thoughts. Never really been a Merc man but that appeals hugely.

They have the 'school boy' thing down so well. Looks like the batmobile!

On cars of the age and ilk, it's just a personal utility v. opportunity cost decision. What could you buy for that money which would make you happier? Is that E500 very cheap or about on par? I'm having bad thoughts. Never really been a Merc man but that appeals hugely.
It's a 'wrong era' car, but the appeal is phenomenal.
Strikes me as a car they have taken in px and want rid of

same money would be an E36 M3 or an E39/E38 '*40'

A £4k E36 M3 wouldn't fill me with confidence. The Merc is the 'worst' possible model: the most gas-guzzling version that isn't an AMG. Which is VfM if you understand what you are and are not getting.Strikes me as a car they have taken in px and want rid of

But it also a grunty well specced E-class without the expensive to fix/maintain AMG bits. V8mate said:

Exactly. Most will want the 55 AMG while the rest won't even know it exists, or at least have overlooked it, hence the low price. In a similar vein i've been noticing B6 A4 3.0 quattros are looking good value as they're not an S4. Seriously looking to get one of these A4 3.0 'midi-barges' for the winter. It appears £2.5-3k buys in.

You touch upon a confusing point there - the 2000-2006 Mercs are supposed to be terrible yet this type of Merc was reported as the most reliable second hand car last week? It's quite a baffling thing for someone like me who knows sod all about Mercedes.
I'm no expert. I understood the 1996-2003 era to be the 'nightmare years'.Where did you read of this car's reliability prowess?
Just back from a weekend at the most remarkable wedding ever, staged at a big old house on the Oxfordshire / Northamptonshire border with a stuffed polar bear in the hall, two lions in the dining room, a giraffe in the orangery and a zebra in the library (to name but a few).
Took the old Merc. To the manor born:

Don't want to put the mockers on it, but you would almost certainly treat that as an £8k purchase. Four to the seller, and four to be tucked away under the electric blanket. If Honest John is to be believed, the w211 "What's Bad" section is more like War and Peace where pre '06 cars are concerned.
Shame, they really are superb cars when not up on the ramps.

Chaps - pressure washer c.£100
Is karcher still the one to have, or are there others out there at that price? Just needed for washing the cars and driveway...
TIA...

olly. Not sure how prices compare, but the informed money seems to be on Nilfisk rather than Karcher. Something to do with metal vice plastic impellors. Or something. Is karcher still the one to have, or are there others out there at that price? Just needed for washing the cars and driveway...
TIA...

There have been a number of threads on the homes, gardens, DIY section. I'm no expert, but that seemed to be the canny buy. As someone has said, there are always plenty of offers on somewhere if it's only for light-duty use.
