Sell the Golf, get a TVR and then it is impossible for anyone to ever have the exact same car.

My neighbors bought a post-facelift 10-plate 207 S 5-dr 1.4VTi 95 in black, and a couple of months later I bought one of the last pre-facelifts (09) on a 58-plate in grey, a 3-dr Sport with the same engine. I went out with the intention of buying a Polo, but Peugeot offered me a newer, better car with a better deal, so I rolled with it.

We got a Mercedes ML once as my father in law decided he didnt like it and wanted rid, was still pretty new and back when the original one had some kudos, a neighbour had one, a bit earlier with the bumpers that werent colour coded, he used to drive past at speed looking all imperious, bit of a snob then this thing turns up on our path and my wife spots him driving past slowly looking aghast, he had us pegged as lower in the social order and this just bothered him.

I dont give a toss really with most people but he was a bit of a cock, he gave my little lad some shonky old kids ride on toy tractor, him aged about four and made up with his new ride, then came to see us to open negotiations at £15 for said tip fodder, my wife paid him but what kind of tosser does that, like we had an option by that point.

Anyway, we ran it for a couple of months, it was pretty crap and ruinous on fuel so we sold it and got a diesel MPV and he was happy again.

Nothing you can do about I'd just MTFU and accept it.

You're within your right to feel wierd about it though, it's not a usual situation.

I decided against buying a ford puma just because my scum of the earth, chav of a neighbour had one and I thought it would have been a bit wierd.

I don't normally give a flying hoot about what other people think of my cars, I get them for me not them, however I didn't want to have anything in common with someone I hold with such low regard.

How long have you had yours? He may have been planning to buy one anyway and cursed when one turned up on your driveway.

A mate of mine bought a red ZX Volcane while I had a red ZX Volcane, he then bought a 306 while I had a 306, but then went and sold his Octavia VRs a couple of weeks before I bought mine biggrin

It'll be awesome for me if my neighbour or even the whole street for that matter has the same car as mine! Imagine the noise in the morning... smokin

I'm really failing to see the problem here. Would it annoy you that a neighbour had bought the same telly, dishwasher, fridge or cooker? What's different about a car?
Same house probably as welllaugh

I reckon he's getting the same car as you so when your missus moves in with him she'll be used to driving that car so she's less likely to scratch it or kerb the alloys.

Happened to my father. 3.2 versus the diesel, so there wasn't much of a comparison.
