The link to their site generates a phishing warning on my system.
Yeah same here on Firefox 15.0.1.
Ditto on Chrome.

Jeez, relax people, no money has changed hands, I gave him my view but he's quite strong-headed.

I asked him to forward the email chain that had been going on between them.

The seller sent them the following link to show they were genuine...

http://google.com-inc-wallet.co.uk/Virtual-Wallet....

I *think* I have actually convinced him its not actually legit...
(Thats why I included it, quoted it, and said ' I *think* I have actually convinced him' ) - will add the sarcasm smile for you next time.

lol that is not google.

That is a link to a scam site.. Are you not even reading the domain?

I've been going through a very simular thing, found cheap van on autotrader, but i can't see it because it's in Portugal(sound familiar)The seller (Mr D Steve Collinson <steveley47@yahoo.co.uk)??? wants to ship it to me and i make payment(bank transfer)via google wallet, who hold the money until 15 days after delivery and then i decide if i want to keep it, if i did i then authorise payment.
The thing is i would not be paying google, the request is to pay the money directly to a google representatives bank account.
Pretty fishy, but i emailed google wallet to check first via the link in the billing email, and recieved a very convincing email from "GOOGLE" basically stating everything was legit.
I then emailed Google walet via their own website, they sent me an email(see below) stating they do not use google reps and only work with card payments.
IT IS A 100% SCAM.

Thanks for contacting Google Wallet. I understand that you are concerned that you might be a victim of a Google Wallet scam, so I’m including resources below to help answer questions you may have.

Please read our FAQ page about fake Google Wallet invoices at https://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?an... and our accepted forms of payment at https://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?an... Additionally, here is a blog post with tips for protecting yourself from fraudulent merchants: http://googlecheckout.blogspot.com/2010/10/stop-th...

Feel free to include any communications that you may have received from the seller (with full message headers) and copies of invoices or payment instructions in a reply to this email. You can copy and paste the text of these emails into your reply or attach them as .pdf, .doc, or .jpg files. Although we won’t be able to follow up with you individually, we’ll be sure to review any information that you submit.

If you believe you’re a victim of a fraud, you may also want to file a report with the appropriate authorities and/or your regional fraud reporting center, such as the Internet Crime Complaint Center (www.ic3.gov). For more information on scams in general, please visit the Google Security Blog at http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/07/how-to-stee...

If you have any additional questions, please reply to this email and I'll be happy to help.

Have a wonderful day!

Sincerely,

Anastasia
The Google Wallet Team

I am just in the process of making more enquiries about an identical advert in the autotrader once again offering a car in portugal at an amazing price using Google Wallet for payment. The seller states you deposit the money with Google Wallet who keep the money until the car has been received and checked,, once you are happy you then authorise payment......I have looked all over the net for a Google Wallet telephone number but can find nothing...This similar thing waqs posted in October 2012 but there didn't seem to be a conclusion...Scam , it certainly looks like, then again??????? any sensible reples would be much appreciated..

biggrin

I'm not certain, but I don't think com-inc-wallet are particularly renowned for their escrow services.

Hi, yes this is a SCAM, do not arrange for paiement via google wallet when buying acar, this is a SCAM, whatever other persons could try to sell you if an offer is too good to be true, it means its not, I found several similar examples of attempts to sell cars via autotrader and all are scam when they try to get you do a payment via Google wallet (something lile google.wallet-uk-inc.co.uk or google.wallet-uk-confidence.co.uk)

I am sure good cars with attractive price exst, keep looking, but be sure that you can always see the car before buying, do not believe someone that sells with too many obvious costs ignored (price way lower than actual price in market, transportation costs, return costs, etc...)

Good luck!

On the other hand, he may now be so skint that he had to pawn his laptop.
