Daft, just plain daft.

I love LR's and Defenders especially, but a £90k 110 that will never see a decent amount of green lanes? I'm oot.

Looks fantastic.

i'd still take one of these if I get a lottery win over it though

+1

IMHO, a complete 'no-brainer'; one looks like it has just done a bit of subtle fine muscle tuning in the gym, whereas the other one looks like it has been force fed a bucket load of 'let's look 'ard' steroids.

What's wrong with using a G-Vagen as a daily driver as the article suggests? If you have the money, why not? They seem to be quite popular around the Washington D.C. suburbs, usually as the (wonderful) G55 AMG variant.

Tyres? They dont look grippy enough for any serious off road work.
£90k for what? A 4x4 that doesnt even go offroad?
If you've got £90k to spend on a Defender I wouldn't mind betting you could also afford a second set of wheels and tyres.

Sounds great but 90k !!!!

Have just bought a 90 50th Anniversary 4.0 V8 can wait to get it ( four days or so) have not been this excited in ages love defenders and love V8's what can possible go wrong .......

well actually if it does I am dropping in a TVR Griff or Chim 5.0

Phib
Ir eally wanted a V8,

And then realised that they do 10mpg at 70mph - literally. Went for a Td5 in the end. No lovely V8 noise frown
The auto in the 50th won't help fuel. But on a run an old carb'd 3.5 V8 I know of will do 17-19mpg. If this was running a descent after market EFI like Maegasquirt and a few other upgrades I have no doubt it'd be 20'ish on a run, maybe slightly more.

Let me guess you think a Defender is cramped, noisy and has a too small a cabin?
He does probably think that, because it is the case.

I've had two defenders and will never have another, slow, uncomfortable, rubbish turning circle. The only thing I like is the looks.

Why two?

Turning circle is fine, you just need to wind the steering stops in. Running wider off set rims will also help massively.

They are no slower than most comparable vehicles and can certainly be made speedy enough with relative ease.

Personally not found them uncomfortable at all, quite the opposite, even on 5 hour long jaunts.

Ideal.

Til it needs filled with fuel, or you want to try and find some tyres for it.
I guess you could always fit different tyres though such as some normal mud terrains or AT's of suitable size.

It would need to be "suitable" size as opposed to correct size as well, don't think anyone makes 325/65/17 these days
You are probably correct.

I think BFG do a 305/65 and a 305/70, I'd guess they are fairly close, or maybe you could even go up an inch or two in wheel diameter.

Mine runs offset rims and something has been done to the steering, so it's actually pretty good (and a hell of a lot better than my Morgan!). Large intercooler, hybrid Turbo, EGR blank and higher geared transfer box means it will cruise at 80 happily.

It's still by no means fast, though, and being a 90, the ride is best described as "choppy"...

That is the dogs bks. I'll have one just to ps off the local residents association.

Took my lad to school today, pulled up, parked the car & left the engine running for less than 30 seconds as he wanted to listen to something on the cd player.

In that 30 seconds the chairman of the RA, a jumped up sanctimonious little tt on a good day, was banging on the car window yelling at me to turn the engine off because of the damage i was doing to the environment....

I ignored him, as you do, because he is an arse. So he took a note of my registration number to 'pass on to the authorities' along with all the other reg numbers he took this morning.

He also said it was an offence to sit in a car with the engine running if i wasnt moving - asked him if the same applied when i sat at a set of traffic lights or i was in a queue of traffic.

tt said yes it was!!!

So i left the engine running for a little longer just so that i could listen to the sweet sounding V6 that was humming away as my foot accidentally pressed down on the throttle pedal!!!

Childish i know however he irritated me. A lot.

So for that reason alone i want one of these beasts.

I should also add that he drives a Toyota Landcruiser - an old one - which smokes a lot so probably causes more pollution than my Jaguar!!

Just forget about him - he's a twot - there are thousands of them (and plenty of them post on here hehe) - the more you keep replaying/rehearsing what happened/what to do next, the more he's won in his mind - you're probably just one of umpteen he's lectured this week.

Just write him off as a sad twot: afterall, we all know for sure he'll have a teeny weeny little willy and that likely the milkman is slipping in to give his missus a much needed seeing to while he's on his 'I am great and I save the planet' patrol. And no one would blame her would they? ........... I'll bet he's a reet bundle of fun to live with.

Next time you see him, give him a big warm smile and say in a chirpy voice 'Good Morning, Lovely Day'; that'll get right up his chuff because in his mind, he'll register 'borrocks, that bloke has got the measure of me', especially if it's pi55ing it down when you say '...... Loverly Day'.

thumbup

PS Just in case he's a PHer (stranger things have happened) ....................... Feck Off You Moron ........ and what's this I hear about your underwhelming tackle?

It sounds like he is running an elaborate rouse to perve at school boys.

I'd make a formal request to the school that they report him and ask him to move on.

Can't be too careful these days.
