Was an exceptional test and the whole thing had my skin tingling. The Olympics was good but this really shows why we are Great Britain

Hopefully it has the same effect on the youth and it inspires the next generation of engineers.

I'm sure I caught a glimpse of shock diamonds in the exhaust plume from the side camera view. Difficult to tell on the web video feed, looks very promising though well done to all involved!

It's all ground breaking stuff. Most of the engineering is theoretical, like the use of aluminium "Tyres". The centrifugal forces at 1000mph would fling the rubber off the rim.

Im pretty sure they used aluminium "tyres" on Thrust SSC as well. Obviously, with Bloodhound designed for speeds of 1,000 mph plus, the tyres and wheels will need to be somewhat different.

Well where do I begin, Just got back home from Newquay! Yes I saw it live! woohoo. Well 150 metres away in a locked down nuclear bomb proof hangar! The noise was quite incredible considering how far away we were. I think it is a credit to british engineers that the test went without a hitch. Was the most exciting thing I've ever seen and heard!! A credit to the Bloodhound SSC team, A day I'm not going to forget in a hurry. Oh I happened to stand next to Chris Harris too! Pics to follow....

Easy answer to that question - they dont play football, they are not called Alex Ferguson (services to football? blah blah blah. the usual bks) & they are not corrupt whereby paying out millions of pounds to this charity, that charity, this political party etc etc.

Richard Noble should have been knighted years ago. As for Andy Green - his knighthood should come once he has set the record.

The firing of the motor was epic - i missed it but saw Andy Greens presentation afterwards. He was superb.

Indeed - the stuff that Richard Noble has done for British engineering prestige - and our pride. I don't get it either.

I despise the cult of celebrity so the only famous person I have ever met and cared about meeting is Richard Noble at Silverstone in the car park about 14 years ago, I think. He was with his wife who thought my interception of him was very funny - I got my photo taken with him shaking my hand - its on my office wall.

A top bloke who makes me proud to be British.

On a PH note they were in an old F reg Volvo estate.

Well, it's hardly rocket science. Oh,...wait....
