RE: Caterham confirms supercharged R600
Discussion
The only thing more important to me than lap time, is my time in general. And you're wasting it.
I think you know you are being deliberately antagonistic, I catch myself doing it from time to time too. But, I try to engage in that sort of business for comedy value. Yes, winding people up on forums can be fun. Perhaps I am getting a taste of my own medicine here. But you seem to be winding up a lot of people, and unless I'm mistaken I don't detect an ounce of deliberate humour here?
More importantly, to what degree you were being negative about one make racing (or caterham racing in this particular case) is a moot point. Maybe I misjudged the extent of your cynicism towards one make racing, that isn't what matters here. I think the point is you are in the vast minority, as someone who doesn't get one make racing and I find it odd that you would expect to be treated differently. Of course what I say isn't right or wrong necessarily, it is subjective. Cause for discussion. That is what forums are for predominantly. However, I would expect that someone of reasonable intelligence might pre-suppose that criticising something as popular as one make racing on a motorsport/car forum is a akin to lighting the touchpaper. You are entitled to you opinion, we all are. Sadly.
When you start pointing out your opponents grammatical and spelling mistakes as you did before, you start to look like your core argument is pretty unconvicinng. Last resort I guess.
Hopefully before too long you will do us a all a favour and live up to your own profile name.

Not only are Caterham owners skilled in the art of driving but also (generally) very bright. Never pick a fight with a Caterham owner - he/she will seek to raise the debate to their (higher) level. On what statistics do you base that comment? Would you care to give us figures for the total number of people competing in one-make racing, compared to the number of people competing in other categories?
I could provide fairly accurate statistics as to the amount of people who think you are a moron. Stop posting such utter drivel and ruining which was quite frankly a good thread.
Please...there, I asked nicely.
So despite all that, I am very much looking forward to driving it. The R300 is a riot to drive so I can't see whats not to like. I am especially excited to try a caterham on slicks. Should be awesome.
Should be like the good old days of the Eurocup and CSR's. Oh to wind back the clock. Real shame I never got to race in that but the future is looking bright.
To be honest, even racing a roadsport is about as much fun as you can have with your flies done up.

No, comparing someone to Hitler is the last resort. It will come, just wait:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law
I miss the days when an event like Cadwell, you could rock up, qualify, then drive the same car to Skegness with the girlfriend, come back to a lovely meal, play 9 hole putting at the Hotel and then hit the Piano all night only to race day on Sunday and then drive back to London, sometimes with a laurel garland. This is the core of the brands DNA and hope wont be forgotten

I drove the car yesterday and it's very impressive. Getting used to the braking power from the slicks took a while but in all other respects it's a very well sorted (and bloody fast) car.
We were lapping Brands GP quicker than a 458 Challenge car and around a second slower than a Ginetta G55. With a few set up changes and more bum in seat time I think it would be quicker than a G55 at certain tracks.
It's more physical than my R300 and the Sadev box requires a good 'yank' to get the gear but that adds to the driving experience.
If anyone is thinking of doing it, drive the car! It will make it a much easier decision for you!

Haha - please don't take either my G55 time or that of the 458 C 'Dads Army' spec as representative! My best time was probably 3 or 4 seconds off what pole will be and the guys in the 458 were seeming stuck in 2nd. They were also octogenarians by the look of it.
Whilst it is very quick in a straight line it's lack of aero will always cost it. Having said that, it should be close at some tracks perhaps?
Anyway, lap times are one thing. Enjoyment and value are another. It's probably a 1/3 of the cost to run the car when compared to the G55. That makes it very good value for the performance.

Its already quicker than a G50 out of the box around Donington!
As others have illuded to setup is stock and needs refining which is fine. It was also pretty cold and getting heat into the tyres was hard work. Still, one of the laps which wasn't baulked by 20 minis. This day had more red flags than I have ever seen!
