What cheap V8? Bought a LS400 & it's not for me.

As the title, I was looking to scratch my itch for a budget V8 & purchased a Lexus LS400-1995. The car is in really good condition in fact it's pretty mint & drives perfect but I just don't like the size/shape. Is there anything else for similar cost? It would also need to be resonably reliable.

I agree on the 540i. If you could find a nice E39 they are great, but for me, the winner would be a mint E34. Getting rare now, but worth searching out. Sadly, they just don't make 'em like that any more! 
I missed out on a manual e34 540 Touring 18 months ago - I just wasn't brave enough

What a car, especially when de-chromed in a nice colour with sports seats. 
As for the Jaguar XJ, yes I've had my share of those too, totally different but also a great car. XJ8 was good for wafting, but the XJR was just fabulous.

Id go Jag, German v8's are too refined. Then track down some sports cans. What a car, especially when de-chromed in a nice colour with sports seats. Reliability is as any other aging barge,buy on condition and history but the big thing is that the chocolate timing gear has been changed.Best one is subjective,sports look younger with less chrome n wood so a rarish 4.0 sport with some nice options would be popular.
I like wood n chrome so a 4.0 exec for me in navy with cream hide.
Looking back, I also have very fond memories of my W140 S500 Mercedes. It was built like a bank vault, but over a decade on, you might need some brave pills with it! Get lucky with a good one though and they are an incredible piece of kit. Superior in many ways to the model that replaced it.

Seriously, they're nice cars, but have far more common issues which send them to the crusher than a Lexus of the same era so be careful.
