Last car I had with 'expensive' tyres needed a relatively unusual 20" size which my VW Dealer (New Beetle on PHAT RIMZ) offered to supply whilst carrying-out a service for a mere £80+VAT and free fitting (best I'd found one before that was low £90s so I leapt at their offer).
When I punctured one away from home and needed it fixed ASAP I had to resort to an ATS (the only place locally with one in stock) and it cost, with their 'fitting' and other costs, £240!!!!!!
That's THREE TIMES the price I'd paid for the exact-same-tyre at a VW main dealer - oh and they got the balance wrong but I was 200 miles away when I realised so I had to pay for that to be fixed (as the local ATS refused to fix it) - tts...

ts...We have an Evoque, a Pure SD4 Auto. It has the Panny roof, tech pack and power tailgate. Std 18" alloys and it rides very nicely but handles with aplomb. It feels like it was set-up by somebody who really likes driving. Quite often on the back roads near home, I leave cars in my wake and have no issue maintaining speed and making progress on 60 roads - it's a great car! Many people who haven't driven one say it's "style over substance" but it isn't to me. It's an incredibly capable car and a delight to drive and own.
The only niggles I have are:
1) It has a naff turning circle and
2) The iphone integration (apparently you can either use the phone function or the ipod function but not both at the same time!)
But the former you just drive around and the latter is hardly a deal-breaker.
Every time I get out of the car after driving the family around in it, I'm always telling the Mrs - I really like your car and I do - it's a really great car.

I'd buy a Discovery. Practical, spacious, better value and capable. Have to admit the Evoque looks good though
The two cars 'feel' so different it's not true.(Disco is great until you try to fit it into the sort of apologetic parking spaces normally proffered at offices, shopping centres and railway stations.)

I'm not the SUV sort but I'm considering one as my next car. Great looks, lovely interior, and it just grabs me somehow. The other cars I'm considering? I point and laugh at everyone I see, I honestly think they are comical, and the people who get suckered into buying are clowns.

Lotus Exige, Chevy Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Mustang GT500, so im definitely not the SUV type. In the end I probably won't go for the RR but will certainly take a test drive. At present I don't own a car, just a motorcycle (Triumph 675 if anyone's interested).
Am I a 'clown' who would get "suckered" into buying one if I decided to take the plunge?
As for style over substance, imo they are equally important. After all if style wasn't important we should all be driving 1994 Volvo 240s non?
This is PH and the correct SUV-coupe to have a problem with is the X6, X6M and especially diesel X6s with M badges
I have had my SD4 (190bhp 4x4) Prestige since March and have done 15k in it, I love it. So do most people once they have stopped the Victoria Beckham jokes and actually sat in one for a sustained journey.
My quick summary
Pros - Looks good from the front, quiet cruiser, very nice well screwed together cockpit (some aren't I hear), fast enough, extra height and 4x4 a bonus in the Dales and floods, designed and made in GB
Cons - mpg if it was 40 I would be happy, not pretty from behind, the turning circle and the boot is small, the poverty spec white 3dr ones seem to be driven by cocks.

Not only has its on road abilities been praised but its great off road skills as well. Add the fact the 1000 extra people are now gainfully employed building these things; would you like to tell those workers to their faces that the people buying them are "Clowns"?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but you may like to add the caveat that a lot of British workers are currently benefiting from this cars success

The ones with halogen headlamps have LED running lights that look very much like a dipped beam, albeit with a cool white colour temperature. The xenon-equipped cars have LEDs in a jazzed-up style and look completely different.
