To avoid needlessly travelling to see one this coming weekend, just a quick question for anyone who might own a new-shape (not the very very latest) Santa Fe:

- With 2 full-size child car-seats in the back, would an adult fit vaguely 'comfortably' in the middle seat?

Given the number of times we go out and about with the kids and other family members, we don't want to buy a car with a wasted seat (granted there will be another 2 in the boot but assuming they are not overly comfy for adults for more than half an hour!).

Thanks!

We have one (a 2011 Premium), having sat in that position myself I can confirm that it is a squeeze (although I am obviously 'powerfully built' wink ). It was ok for a very short journey, but I wouldn't want to spend long in there!

We did spend a lot of time researching and trying the 7 seat 4x4 alternatives and found the Santa Fe to be just about the best value. We have had it 6 months now and are very pleased with it. Just to note if you buy a nearly new from a Hyundai dealer there is a good chance it will be an ex-rental, ours was registered to ERAC which is Enterprise. We didn't see it as too much of a problem, the ammount they cost to hire per day should put off the 'yob' thrash the rental car types and TBH how much damage can really be done to a diesel auto???

Edited to add... the fuel consumption ain't great we get about 25mpg, but do mostly short urban runs.

Thanks for replying, sounds like it might be ok (my wife is slim as a slim thing) so hopefully would be able to last a short trip if necessary.

Agree they seem excellent value and definitely want a post-2009 model with the 194 bhp engine. Should be able to drive a hard bargain given the new model has just been released.

I also have A 2011 premium, more than happy with it, I resently had a 1hr journey in the middle seat with no real problems, Im 6'1 100kgs. Legs have to go either side of transmission tunnel but thats the same in all 4 wheel or rear wheel drive cars. Round town 35mpg on a run 45+. performance wise surprisingly quite brisk for a largish 4x4 auto. I would buy another thumbup
