To my mind this is what a modern Bentley should be, and I bet as with the last GT the market will agree. One of the best looking cars on sale, in my opinion.

I really like the GT Speed, however with my money I am going for the 599. Not that I can get a deal on one at the moment so will wait until early Spring...

Courtesy of Bentley, I had a new GT Speed out for a few hours of road and track at Millbrook 2 weeks ago. It is a fabulous machine and has no right to handle like it does. It is in a different league to the V8 or boggo W12 IMO with much stiffer set up, 10mm lower and a lot more grunt etc. The W12 engine weighs marginally more (25kg) than the V8 with similar compact dimensions but delivers a huge return for the extra kg with 125PS more shove.

GT Speed has 4 (decent) seats for those of us that need them. And its gearbox is reliable...

Surely 'sportiness' not just about what it can do, but also where it feels comfortable and how it makes you feel.

For example, I had an RS4 cab for a while and yes it was fast, and it could go round corners (ask an M3 that I had a duel with), but to be honest I hardly ever drove it fast. Rather it was lovely just to waft and listen to the engine. That was its forte and I kind of went along with it mostly.

On the other hand, my R8 (and evo's, 911's, caterhams etc I have had in the past) just demands to be pushed all the time and I always find myself flying, giving it the redline, pushing it round bends - even if I didn't intend to do any of that when I set out.

So, what is the default for the Bentley? I have never seen one really being given the beans if I'm honest...

I just find the current Bentley Continental GT so damn trashy that I could never buy one even though they are incredibly good value used.

CL65 AMG every time for me. Classier, nicer inside & out and 738 lb-ft torque.

Came across a GT at set of red lights, the driver looking intense.

Green appeared, and the Bentley disappeared very very quickly. Things like that do stick with you for a long time, and it goes to show that some are sometimes given the beans.

Would i have one if i could afford it? Maybe..

I want a Conti GT but it will be a second hand 12. But then I won't be throwing it around do it should do.
I want something that I can drive from Crewe to the south of Spain with ease and comfort. A proper GT car.
Then again I fancy a DB9 smile

My old GT was the most relaxing car I have ever driven. It's all about effortless speed. On German motorways, however, it is a real bruiser, piling up speed at a rate that is just staggering

The Conti GT is by some margin the best car I've ever sat in. Would I swap it for my XKR 5.0?
Not a chance, the XKR is a better blend of comfort, speed and driver involvement.
