F* here SW19. Previous place was "A".

I won't do an insurance comparison to depress myself!

I've moved house twice this year (settled now) and I've gone from an E to a D and now to an F frown

Over the years I've moved from an F to a C to a B.
Happy days. smile

Annoyingly, I'm now just outside an A postcode.

Use it as a guide rather than a clear indicationas to whether your premium will go up or down, just because the link says one postcode is bad doesn't mean an insurer will hold the same information..
I live in a referral post code and my girlfriend lives in an A, but most quotes dont differ by a great deal between the two.

F* for me.
That's what you get for living in a town that is usually on fire.

It must generalise a fair bit...

I'm in a half-decent part of a less-than-salubrious town (ML5-C rated) and thinking of moving to a posher conservation village part of a posher town (G76-E rated). irked
I think the grading probably comes from stats of cars being stolen/claims from that particular area rather than how posh that particular area is.I just googled a postcode from my area which was 'f' rated and it turns out that it belongs to what is the most upmarket and expensive place to live in my area, far more saloubrious than the 'B' rated area where I live.

I suppose it makes sense though. If your going to pinch a car,go and pinch a nice one from a place where people probably aren't expecting it.

Has anyone noticed that this has foolishly become an: 'look how much better than you I am in my A rated postcode' thread?

There are some desperately insecure people posting on PH. I bet that many see themselves as middle class, unlike their parents...

hehe

Nah, it's a "multiplier" for the entire premium rather than an addition or a multiplier on the element based on theft risk. It's basically a relatively covert way to class-profile people. That's what I've seen from comparison sites, anyway.

Where about's roughly in SW19? In my opinion, SW19 is for the most part a nice area. I'm around Wimbledon Village, so F* is quite a surprise.

Might have something to do with being in London?

bks. Most posters are relating changes downwards, or suprise at the disparity between the "poshness" of an area, and it's statistical insurance risk. IMO your post shows that you're the desperately insecure one...

Well, I'm proudly in an E* but can insure pretty much anything for under £500.....including 12 of maranellos finest cylinders for £290, so I've a strong feeling these ratings only form a tiny part of the insurance companies calculations...

I see, although your opinion doesn't matter a great deal to me.

Btw: that's a winning personality that you have there Forrest.

I've told him to get rid of the Evo with the complimentary "Ravinnit" sunvisor, it's not befitting a retired seventy year old maths lecturer. wink
