I still don't see this being a 'proper' Nismo car. They may of put their name to it and maybe gone "Yeah stiffen that up a little bit" in passing to another designer at Nissan, but last time I checked, Nismo don't do things by halves:

I think this isn't a proper Nismo car in the same way an M135i is vastly different to a 1M.
Love that R33

I really like it. I bet the 4wd one would be great for winter euro trips across the alps - elevated driving position for visibility, CVT for relaxed cruising on the autoroute/bahn, decent amount of grunt and traction for the passes.

Can't say I like the look of the car, but I was impressed by it's weight, 1,293kg, I thought it would be allot more then that.

Hard to say (is that 2wd or 4?), the MINI Countryman is about 50mm shorter and weights around 1270kg in 2wd form, much nearer 1400kg for 4wd.

Either way, the bodykit really does looked tacked on (and tacky), almost as much of a misfit as that abomination of a skirt worn by the mk1 Honda Jazz Sport.

My Mrs bought a Juke last year I wanted to hate it but I have really grown to like it. As has been said above though it isn't worth doing a Nismo version, it is never going to set your pants on fire. I think they should stick to tinkering with Z cars and GTRs.

I wish Nismo/Nissan had cottoned on to this much sooner, will be interesting to see where it goes now.

Honda should take note with Mugen! Probably a bit to racy/extreme for their softly softly approach though!
Or maybe Subaru could do similar with their Forester... Oh Right! They did... About 10 years ago...

Over here I call it the Nissan Puke smile

I really do like these and had taken a long hard look at buying one (in 4wd CVT guise) but the interior was funky but brittle and scratchy, the boot was tiny especially with the rear diff eating into it on the 4WD and the CVT though smooth was horrible and whiney. Made a horrible noise for the 'sporty' model.

Plumped some extra cash into a Countryman Cooper S All4 auto in the end(I need an auto btw), but still find myself looking at the Jukes thinking, if only the boot was a little bigger and if it had a standard Tq convertor auto or DSG, I could have overlooked the interior. I have a strange compulsion towards them, I'm sorry.

Back on topic, I almost got run over by what appeared to be a Juke NISMO in Lausanne, Switzerland in October. The thing looked mean and sounded fierce, but guess it must just have been an extensively modified standard one?

It really did look just like the hardcore one that was featured a while back with the GTR engine...
Considering Nissan bowed to consumer pressure (from rich buggers) when they did the Juke-R publicity exercise and agreed to build a very limited number (25 I think it was) of Juke-R's and the amount of money knocking about in Switzerland I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of those!

BTW, you went to Lausanne a few months early, ski season starts in December wink

Seriously? Look at this car in isolation, it's pig-ugly and absolutely pointless.

...And the latest incarnation, the new 2013 Forester Turbo, gets 276bhp and CVT transmission. That should be good for 0-60 in under 6 secs if they've designed it properly. Arrives in the UK in the summer.

I call these Marmite cars....not one for the fence.....you either like it or not, me I seem to be increasingly disappointed with new so called performance cars coming onto the market as they all have luke warm performance figures. If its not sub 5 seconds to 60 it's not a performance car IMHO. Oh and I prefer to have my Marmite mixed with peanut butter on my toast.

Clue's in the picture: Chaps goes by the name of Blowdog. Remember the name from the MLR years ago as he had a couple of Evos back in the day then moved on to Skylines, Porsches etc. Had one of the first R34s in the UK from memory. Good taste in cars!

"Nismo Micra might even be possible. Although, actually, that rather makes us shudder."

Why? Use the same 1.6T engine, like almost every other small 'performance' hatchback on the market and let Nismo put their minds into handling, styling and performance.

Assuming they could do that and produce them to retail at around £16-17K then it will be a direct competitor to the Fiesta, Fabia and Ibiza. With 190BHP, I'd imagine it to be quite capable and also pretty fuel efficient with this Juke Nismo being quote at 40+MPG.

Do it Nissan, if not for the money but for the insanity.
