still desperately want an R34 BUT decent ones fetch £25k+...some R35 GTR's can be had for nearly £30k now.....

a bayside blue vspec 2 would be hard to resist though

One of the best cars to be made in the last decade IMO and to be honest I'd rate it above even the current R35. In standard form they might feel a little sluggish compared to modern cars but a quick stage 1 tune (remap\induction\exhaust) for about £1000 will see them hitting 400bhp at which point they become an absolute joy to drive.

If you have deeper pockets, then the skyline (see what I did there?) really is the limit. A 750bhp one I had a go in is one of few cars that has truly taken my breath away in terms of acceleration.

The best part of the package has to be the engine, that legendary RB26 really is a gem and I'd rate it amongst one of the best engines to be made in the last 20 years. A twin turbo 2.6 engine that actually loves to rev to 8000rpm and a power delivery that makes modern turbo engines with their diesel-a-like characteristics feel truly anodyne. Just look up Mines R34 GT-R on you tube to see just what this engine is capable of.

The noise as it wound past 5000rpm was truly spine tingling and I still miss mine immensely. If life circumstance allow, I WILL have another in my life at some point.

I've reached a place in life where I feel I need a Skyline in it now. But like a lot of people, it seems, I'm hankering after a 33. In white with Anthracite wheels if you don't mind....

10 years ago these were god!Probably my all time favourite car and would swap my left testicle for a midnight purple v-spec 2.

byebye Another Gran Turismo generation kid now grown up and lusting after these. Just awesome things. But I'd be so worried about buying one used, having had so much tuning and therefore inevitable hard driving (to 'test'...). To be fair some of the tuning done to these was amazing, and it's clearly a part of the Skyline mythos - but you have to have some cojones to actually drop cash on one. Not to mention insure it...

I hate these write up's as it makes me miss my R34 GTR even more than I do already frown
Mine was one of 3 UK car's that came in Yellow (pic in my profile when I first got it), and it's for sale with a trader up north, was a high mileage example but I still loved driving it, I'll be back in another one, roll on the summer so all my friend's bring their GTR's out!

Not my sort of car at all, but somehow so much more appealing than the current GTR.

I loved my old 33 but prefer my new 34 GTT , generally a much nicer drive and more up-to-date inside

I'd love a 34 GTR especially a NUR spec not driven one but bet they are a nicer motorway car than the 33

Its true they are a big car though , bit of a barge really but check these pics out , talking of big cars

Jesus, that buts things into perspective of how big modern cars are getting. Have to say I echo alot of other people on here, I prefer the beefier look of the R33.

Have you tried one? If not you really need to have a go in one that has been fettled in an intelligent manner (and I'm not talking about a 700bhp monster as they are mostly undriveable on public roads).

I know you seem to prefer lighter NA cars but if there is one car that can convince you that you CAN make a fun\drivers car using a turbo engine it's this one.

There is no way you can talk the value of these cars down, there are simply not enough working and presentable R34 GTRs in supply to dilute their resale value and the best ones will probably never get sold on anyhow.

There is a 600 mile 100% stock R34 GTR priced at £49k - alot of money but it is a lot of car!

impressive performance but sorry, never done it for me on the aesthetics front. Looks like a malaysian taxi after the kit club got their hands on it.

A low mileage Nur Spec II which is one of the last of the line special editions regularly fetch more than that and Nizmo Z-tunes go for 6 figures! If my numbers came up, I'd definately have a Z-tune in the collection or alternatively take the mintiest R34 I could find to Mine's tuners and give them a blank chequebook.

Western classicalists all look at cars like the Skyline in an inferior sub-servant sort of way.

That alone makes niche cars like the Skyline the more better for people who do appreciate something "different".

One of my all time favourites, revered when it was released, I was an impressionable 16 year old at the time. They have aged very well too.

Suprised how much smaller it is in proportions compared to the R35, the wheels looks tiny.

yes

Let's be honest, the contemporary E46 is hardly a stunning piece of design, esp. in saloon form (M3 looks the business though), and the less said about French saloons/coupes post-406 the better!

Not especially, the strut tops are a bit of a design fault and they often show rust there and sometimes on the wheel arches but both are easily sorted, the R33 being that bit older is more likely to be an issue, same places as the cars are very similar

Never liked the rear end on the R34, I always felt it looks too boxy and that spoiler - however functional - is just plain awful imho. I'll take an r33 with lots of money spare to modify instead thanks smile
