the unbroken nature of the surface will prevent access to a large chunk of the underside of the car. Pretty much anything between the axles is going to be inaccessible.
Luckily there is nothing to access between the axles Last time I read about this garage I spent the next week looking to buy hydraulic lifts and ceramic tile from Ebay...

Hold the bloody steering wheel properly!
Arrrrrggghhhh!!!!!!!!!!Thats what i remember most about that vid too.
Saw this off a tweet this morning. seriously considering knocking my two singles into one big one - with car lift
Love the vid of 'his perfect lap' which you can find if you go to the website his garage has (yes, I did say his garage has it's own website) http://12-gaugegarage.com/ The speed he commits to the long right hander near the end of the lap is immense!

All the details of the garage, its construction and some pointers to background on the car are available at http://12-gaugegarage.com/ if anyone wants further info ...
Definitely desireable.
Garage is superb and mid car access easy.......raise car and lower onto stands or wheel ramp/stands then lower ramp to floor level leaving car underside accessible.
As for the car.... He has a car HE likes and tweaked to his needs. What could be better?
As for the nit-picking, what he does/chooses is HIS choice ......
We all have individual preferences.
Is there a "perfect" car/garage that is ok for everyone?
If I had time/££££ I'd do similar after getting differing cars and not a one car fits all.

Great video, but lately I'm seeing a lot more content on PH that has appeared on Jalopnik only 2-3 days ago. I realise not everyone reads Jalopnik (they should do though) but it does seem like someone at PH is just posting what they post over there.
Maybe, but at least it's the really cool bits Jack Olson is a regular on Pelicanparts. He seems a nice bloke.
He is also the author of the "Jack Olsen self portrait" Look it up, it should be introduced to PH as well.
On pelicanparts you can find a tremendous story about his search for ultimate downforce by creating his own wings. WHen you read about his efforts and measurement techniques you can only assume he has no wife or girlfriend ;o)
I consider him a true Petrolhead. Making the most of of nothing.

However it must be quite limiting; the unbroken nature of the surface will prevent access to a large chunk of the underside of the car. Pretty much anything between the axles is going to be inaccessible. Maybe not a huge issue in a car like that but in general, not great.
he addresses this point on his website:My lift is flat and covered with tile. It disappears into the floor. It wouldn’t work for most cars. My flat-bellied 911 happens to fit on it perfectly, with its drivetrain and exhaust all accessible because it’s a rear-engine car. So for me, the idea of using a flat-topped hydraulic lift table instead of a conventional automotive lift made sense. An off-the-shelf Bend Pak would definitely work for more guys and more cars. But I found a cheaper path that is uniquely suited to me and my car. That’s the kind of thinking I like most.
