Epic car - Epic garage

That lift tho, it's a bit limited in what it can do surely? I mean, if you owned a car with the engine at one end and driven wheels at the other (e.g. not a 911) you'd not be able to access driveshaft/exhaust/gearbox or even the engine itself (mid-engined?), it's just really for taking wheels off/doing brakes and 911s then? smile
Did you not see this pic from earlier in the thread?

Perfect for its intended purpose.

Great video, but lately I'm seeing a lot more content on PH that has appeared on Jalopnik only 2-3 days ago. I realise not everyone reads Jalopnik (they should do though) but it does seem like someone at PH is just posting what they post over there.
To be fair I got a tip from Josh at Petrolicious about the vid a couple of days back but I was holding off doing anything with it because I thought we'd gone a bit heavy on the retro 911 thing lately. But then I kept getting folk saying 'have you seen this?' and I thought what the hell!

And Jack's a genuine PHer too - he mailed me around the same time as Josh to submit the vid as a potential Time For Tea? so he knows the score.

Anyway, great vid, cracking car, nice guy. All good!

Cheers,

Dan
Yeah I agree, the Videos by Josh Clason which evolved in www.depthofspeed.com and the stuff he does for Petrolicious is good to see. He is making some money and a steady career out of this. The best parts of his videos are that he lets the owner explain what makes them enjoy thier own car.

But yes you guys do need to step away from the Stuggart. While I enjoy the 911 and AMG Mercedes stuff it is very predictable and already you guys feel guilty about this - a bit like having sex with your Ex.

The recent article at SpeedHunters here highlighting this aspect of why travel broadens the mind and that we all appreciate variety.
It is something that you see within alot of car culture and Forums, it gets cacooned within its own scene. Everyone reading the same magazines or more likely today the same links on a Forum and copying that car like scripture. Something that many have had problems evolving as there is only so many combinations of the same thing that you can do.

Interesting article on Speedhunters (and some fabulous pictures) and off the back of your post I had a look back at the last two weeks of content on PH and collated how much we'd talked about what brands over the 60-odd stories we published. Just out of interest! So, the most talked about brand on the site over the last two weeks editorially was Aston Martin, followed by Nissan and then Audi and BMW in equal third place. Porsche? Two stories, the same as Renault, Lexus, Ford and Corvette. Other brands we covered included Volvo, McLaren, Fiat, TVR, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mazda, Hyundai, Kia, Venturi and Rolls-Royce.

Clearly some stories - Chris's Singer vid for instance - made more 'noise' and were move obvious than others. Which might suggest a bias. But I don't think there is.

Variety is the spice of and all that and in the last two weeks we've done stories on everyday classics, million-pound hypercars, 4x4s, sub-£1,000 sheds, international motorsport events, motorbikes, various blogs and opinion pieces and - yes - a couple of stories on old Porsches. And I take huge heart in the fact we can get as an enthusiastic response to a Spotted story about a front-driven diesel Renault Laguna or a test on a Dacia Duster as anything else!

Sure, there are some brands and topics we'll keep coming back to. But the reality is we've got pretty indiscriminate tastes and if it's interesting we'll write about it.

Cheers!

Yup, Jack's been an inspiration and help to many posters on there. Always comes across as genuine, helpful, and with time for others.

The tread looks very similar to the yokohama parada spec 2.
They aint Parada Spec 2's. They are very track orientated and with that amount of tread pattern I was wondering if they were road legal.

Can you run slicks on the road in some states of the US?

They look a bit like the Dunlop DZ02 or 3, Google throws up different pictures for either.

Seen them on here before, someone ran them on their car. Think they're the same as 888/A048s, road legal, but very track orientated.

Dan I agree you guys do have good spread of cars, I just mentioned the AMG 6.3 and 911 thing as they always pop up in Chris's Videos of late.

Well, we do have certain favourites, it's fair to say! Try shutting Alex up about big Citroens for instance... His opportunity to do so on the homepage has been a little limited so far but if I ever go on holiday you may get a more French influenced flavour for a bit!

Like I say though, the main qualifying factor is if it's interesting and/or cool we'll write about it. Glad you're enjoying it!

Fantastic garage, and the car's a beaut. I love the removeable aero appendages.

Music sounds like Philip Glass (during the twisty road bit) - anyone know for sure?

Car is stunning, could be mistaken for a Singer at 20 paces and thats no bad thing!

Not sure about the flimsey screw on spoiler track bits but nice to see the car being used properly.
Garage is cool, but would be a waste of time for me as I'd never use it properly!

Must be nice to be as happy and content as this guy seems spin

I have to say I really am not a Porsche fan, they don't "do" it for me personally, but this one is lovely (except as I'd use it on the road more than track I'd go with the whaletail spoiler instead.) Nice to see a car so well looked after, used properly and by someone who obviously knows his onions.

What an inspirational video! bow
I can relate to him too. Happy with my car, a keeper, and planning a very special garage to keep/maintain/tinker with it in.
Garage website saved to favorites to read/steal ideas from later at my leasure wink

And who gives a shyte how he holds the wheel? His car to do with/drive as he wishes. He's probably done a lot more than most of the driving Gods on here anyway.

Respect.
