Are people moving now or is the motorway still closed/blocked?

Bit concerning as I've got to use the M6 from junction 21 up to the M65 junction (31?) mid morning! Wondering if I should reschedule?

Just left the M6 at J27. Now sat in a queue about two miles long into Standish. frown

I would consider a reschedule if I were you!

Puts my, "have to walk half an hour to work for five o clock" into perspective.

Keep your chin up, the M6 is a godforsaken place at the best of times.

Good luck with the rest of your journey.

Hmm. Do I risk making the trip from Leeds to Cambridge in 3 hours time? My weapon of choice is a heavy barge on summer tyres and an autobox.

I've got to do mid Wales to knaresborough (north of leeds) in a few hours .....my weapon of choice is just plain useless in the snow.

Cheers. My normal commute is a 12 minute walk!

Standish was at a stand-still. Abandoned that idea, now queueing to get back on the M6.

Had enough now.

Be safe iv not long got in from a long night of picking the Mrs up from runcorn and whilst driving back to warrington using my snow matts twice my mum got me for Christmas smile twice for a mercedes driver stuck and a bmw driver again stuck at daresbury (thankfully the Mrs's s3 came through all evening). I did end up witnessing a young couple collide with the back end of a wagon that was strickeded on the expressway luckily both safe just a bit shook up... Accidents do happen just be safe if your still driving in this.

I'm guessing the rain has eased things enough that progress can be made in that direction?

Our lives are so far removed from this scenario now & its been long enough to forget, but your story just woke me good and proper for the day ahead, you've made me feel very grateful, every cloud eh paperbag (a Ricky Gervais good news / bad news)

chin up old bean, have you read some of the jokes here, might make you laugh smilehttp://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Probably taken the best option if the road to Standish is that bad. Orrell junction is out in these conditions, as is Standish back road option. Good luck.

Took us 11 hours but we're home!

Who needs winter tyres?!

Thanks everyone for the company and very kind offers.

Be careful out there.

Goodnight. Erm, good morning.

Run-flats too! I have to say, the car performed impeccably.

And also, that's the nicest sausage and egg McMuffin I've ever tasted!

Right. Bed.

Mine too. My 20 minute walk took half an hour and I got wet feet.

Worst I've got stuck on a motorway was when we had all that rain and the M5 was closed due to a landslide. I wasn't on the M5 thank god but around the M6, just before you joined it. Had to spend the night in the boot of a Mondeo before driving back to Leeds in the morning.

Oh come on Baldymunafrojob/Louie! After all that, you go and ruin it with the wrong McDonalds Breakfast.

The shame.
