Would that roll cage be more for torsional stiffnes and suspension geometry than actual roll over stability?
Not really. To achieve this it needs multiple connections to the bodyshell and principal pickups on the front and rear suspension mounts.

Of course, this point will usually be argued by someone with a six point bolt in cage...

I sat in the USA versions (the Subaru BRZ and Scion FRS) at the weekend during the Houston Auto Show. They are selling fast over here, and dealers are struggling with limited supply. At about US$24k they seem expensive against the local competition, which includes 300bhp base model Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers. For a few grand more you can get full fat V8 versions of same, and with similar insurance rates. Hard to know which way to go. A left field alternative would be the Hyundai Genesis Coupe - don't laugh, they seem to be a stonking bit of kit, and with a 10 year warranty too!

A few months to go before I bite the bullet and make a choice, but the Toyota/Subaru is not the automatic first choice I had expected it to be 8 months ago. One thing I would say is that the Subaru is better finished than the Toyota (scion), but have to admit that the Toyota is less money.

Well if your between the ages of 17 and 24 y/o boy full of testosterone this is the car for you to cruise around your local Red Lion car park trying to pick up and molest young girls. if your a teenage girl your mum might buy you one in pink, or if your a first timer on the the track and you want something slow, safe and in the beginners group for a year or two while you get your skillz up and a car that does 0-60 in ten mins and looks like a wheelie bin, this is just the car for you, anyone over 25 driving this car will look like a fool and a Pediphile who cant afford a real car, and before u all start hating, 35 y/o's driving this, pulls over, hi darling wanta lift,"err why are u driving your teenage sons car", sad but true, but in saying that not bad for a cheap fun car for the young-uns.

Can you tell me where you live? Because if your wheelie bins look like that, then it must be an awesome place to be!

Seriously though, if you can't under stand the pleasure of being able to drive a car that handles well, at as near to 10/10ths as you can, all while not having to worry about massive fuel bills, high insurance payments and over the top repair bills all while never really troubling the speed limit then I feel sorry for you.

Driving isn't just about top speed. Sometimes its just about how much fun you can have wink

I'm quoting this because it is awesome, though not in the way you thought it would be when you wrote it of course.

Entry level uk cars are pretty basic but I do like the RA

Shame you can't see the revised brakes, but oil cooler is visible. Nice.

Hits the mark more than GTR Track Pack, that is for sure.

That has confirmed a lot of things I already suspected about drag racers.

Your profile also seems to indicate that you own a college. Just so you know - it seems creepy that you connect cars with molesting young girls.

I thought people would pick up on the Crossfire convertible..
But anyhow, no one should be judged by the car they drive.

Know that one should be judged by the car they drive?

I guess the Aussie guy is hoping that we do, while ignoring the stupidity of his post.

I know the JDM stuff leaves the factory on steelies based on the fact the first owner will put on the wheels of theur choice.

But I think they look great! I'd be tempted to make sure they are quality tyres and keep them.

Good choice of bike Dan.
Begged/borrowed that one but, yes, it's a beaut. A big old beast though and not an easy one to fit inside a car given the wheelbase and length of the forks so I was impressed that the GT86 swallowed it. I've seen folk fit bikes in the back of Caymans too, FWIW.

Dan

Yeah at glentress the other week there was a guy with his bike dismantled in the back of a 968 club sport porsche....
