I'd saved this thread a few weeks ago to read (can't remember from what other thread it was linked) and I'm glad I did. Thoroughly entertaining read from both the stories to the believers and non-believers. So many questions though.

What happened to the original OP? Sorry to hear he passed but if that's the case why the secrecy now so long after the event?

and the second OP, hats off to you. Pictures and details to back up your story and it's an impressive write-up. It also makes the original's story seem much more plausible too because of it.

I think the mystery around the runs make them all that more appealing, allows the mind to wander.

OP thank you for delivering. You're now the main news story on the DM. This explains why the last attempt was kept secret until the people involved died I guess, they called it right, it's national news.
