360bhp, 39.7mpg and CO2 of 165g/km. Is there anything out there that comes close to this that isn't some sort of hybrid? eek

That's properly amazing and could make it even acceptable as a company car over here hehe
And i'm quite sure that this one won't get anywhere near the middle stat either....

As for others, BMW 335i isn't a million miles away....
Unless its wet or greasy then the nearest it will get will be a hedge or tree.

With the performance figues and price coupled with a prestige badge this will take some beating if a diesel golf is north of £25000 then this is worth the money in my oppinion.

Worth and price are very different things! The notion to me that a diesel Golf is "worth" £25k I find hilarious and never in a month of Sundays. Just because it costs that much alter such a thing not a jot. The CLA sounds like its value is upto £40k on my "worth" range, esp once a Merc finance deal is factored in. Is a coupe version of this thing planned?

I really am curious about uk pricing and spec. Be a bit silly if by the time you spec sat nav, those tasty black 19s and harman kardon it comes to like 45-50k. If that is the case its a no brianer.......c63

Official AMG Twitter post states that "45" actually refers to 450 Nm torque

rofl

That sounds an aweful lot like a "bacronym".

Honestly IMO this looks like a great proposition along with the A45, however the Haldex would put me off. Presume it's FWD biased. Is this the way they are making the price more appealing?

Well if it looks like a good option for you why talk it down? give it a month or two and GO AND DRIVE ONE AND FIND OUT FOR YOURSELF!

Front biased AWD is by far the "best" solution for the driving masses, which is why they've done it.

Sorry Oddball. Does my post offend you, should I refrained from commenting? laugh I personally feel the engine will be great, but is a shame it's not mated with RWD. I'm sure it will be very capable, but obviously I shouldn't post comments about a car that is not yet available in the UK. Clearly no one should post until they've actually driven it, my mistake. BTW have you driven a 335i? Was it wet or greasy and did you drive it into a hedge or a tree? Or are you just bashing people's comments because you are bored, lonely or having a bad day?

If they make it usefully cheaper than a C63 I can see this being quite popular. Apparently the next-gen C63 engine is effectively going to be a V8 version of this new 2.0 4.

It's a bit too showy for my liking. All that's missing is the tinsel and a string of 100 ultra bright LEDs.

Ah wait...the LEDs are covered...smile

I really want to like these but the design is just way too busy, too much going on. It's a bit of a mess frankly.

I also think that if anyone gets close to 39.7mpg i'll eat my hat. 360hp 2-litre turbo...you'll be lucky to do better than 23mpg in the real world.

My thoughts exactly. Same problems with all new mercs... SL CLS ML, too much going on and too much bling and LEDs. Today when I see a white C class driving along I'm not quite sure if its a mom in a 200 CDI, a young Pakistani kid trying to be awesome or an actual C63. Even base models look super awesome these days... which makes them all boring I think.

Thank god for my TVR!
