Weren't Gartrac responsible for the RS1700T as well?...bet the youngster won't have a clue what one of those is
The RS1700T was a Boreham motorsport project, Gartrac did the 2.8i V6 rwd mk3 Escorts(G6).Lots more pics of it here, including under-bonnet shots of the V6 http://retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=ge...
Looking like a baby Quattro. Very clean and original, just how I like em.

That is my old Sierra XR4x4 site, did a lot of research on these. Wonder how many are left as a lot of Minker engines ended up in standard cars.It was always hard to verify originality and even Geoff Kershaw wasn't too sure how many got made in the end.
I had a drive in one of these many years ago and the power is amazing, we managed to seriously upset someone in a TVR Chimera, he couldn't keep up !!
I've got the original sales brochure from Turbo Technics knocking around at home somewhere

Much preferred this....
that brings back memories - a car dealer I worked for took one in and we used it as a run-around while the tax was still in the window - didn't get very far on a gallon of fuel but sure made it an interesting 10 miles or so!!! Think they were a Ford South Africa conversion? Mahoosive V8 with matching soundtrack. Kept the Cossy Sierra drivers on their toes - they would dismiss it as an XR4i.XRNik said:

The XR8 sound nioe but they're relatively low power for a 5 litre - a smidge over 200bhp. They built around 250 for South African Touring Car racing. They do have the XR4-alike rear biplane spoiler but on a 5 door shell rather than the unique XR4i 3-door shellNISaxoVTR said:
Engine shot would have been nice as that is the key attraction after all. Interesting car even if I don't buy the 4.5 to 60. Maybe once, one time for a magazine, but that was probably a long, long time ago.
0-60 is about rightmy twin turbo sierra does it in 4
