It fits in really small car park spaces!

If you were by yourself and folded/took seats out, could you fit a road bike in one with wheels on?

Littlebasher will be the one to answer, but I think it probably will.

I looked at buying the Vauxhall Agila when I was coming back from an overseas posting to do exactly that task and it was appealing because the tax-free price was about £42.60 or something. I didn't go for it in the end; I can't remember exactly why, but it wasn't because of the size which I seem to remember was adequate.

I'll try tomorrow and report back

This particular car came with a towbar, so if i need to transport a bike i've got a towbar mounted carrier in the garage.

Christ knows who thought towing with it was a good idea!

Maybe a child's bike, too short for an adult bike with wheels fitted

It looks good! What year is it - around 2000?

What are they generally like for rust? Are there any common problems with them?

2002

No rust, mainly laquer peel

This particular car doesn't seem to have many issues. It idled unevenly, but i cleaned out the throttle body and EGR earlier today that seems to have cured that. Central locking doesn't work off the key but does work if using the button inside the car.

Not really a lot to go wrong really.

As mentioned above, something like this would make an excellent station car. There's some spaces in our work car park that are between two concrete pillars which are too narrow for most other cars to fit in. This squeezes in there nicely and gets me that bit closer to the door.

Oh, and it weighs very little, so the 1.3 engine in it moves it along nicely. Much nippier than i expected.

Any idea what kind of MPG you'll see?

I'm expecting mid 40's - its clearly designed to be driven in a more sedate manner.

Of the half a tank of fuel that it came with, i've done 60 miles in it so far and the guage has only moved a few mm

Trying my own £500 challenge on autotrader and while not £195 - this could be 'interesting' ?

I'm trying the £500 challenge. However, living in Lincolnshire makes this quite difficult.

Trying to find something decent within spotting distance is proving hard to do. Trouble is, I keep picking up Peterborough in my searches as I'm 17 miles from there. Not the sort of place to buy something that will work.

You need to travel further for decent sheds under £500 or know people. Got my e46 330i manual touring for £350 as it needed new suspension. £190ish for coilovers later it was on the road.

Yes. It's looking that way.

It puts me off a bit as I've looked at three cars lately locally and they have all been pups. Nothing minor, as I know I won't get a perfect car at this price point. But one had a knackered clutch, one had no oil in the engine at all and the key didn't really work, and the final one had the top of the engine glued on.

Need to get the search radius increased. hehe

I just search at my pricepoint &do 'Distance' as my preference. Amazing what can be 30 miles away that you would miss doing 25........... Not always the best plan, if I'd kept to my radius I wouldn't now own a P38 Range Rover that was 28 miles away!!!!!
